American Corner Batticaloa kicked off the latest batch of its English Teacher Training Program on May 13, bringing together 17 secondary school English teachers from area schools and educational institutions.

Facilitated by U.S. English Language Fellow Kevin Anderson, the program highlights U.S. English teaching practices, innovative methodologies, and the effective integration of AI tools like ChatGPT in classroom education.

This initiative strengthens teachers’ professional capacity while celebrating American excellence in English language education and modern pedagogy.

Recently, American Corner Batticaloa concluded the fourth batch of the MakerSpace Program—focused on 3D modeling, design, and printing—with a certificate awarding ceremony, recognizing 25 participants.

During the event, students demonstrated their learning from the 12-week program through business pitch presentations based on U.S.-inspired modeling techniques and innovation-driven ideas. The program strengthened participants’ technical and entrepreneurial skills, equipping them to apply creative solutions and innovation in real-world contexts.

A Youth Forum alumnus from American Corner Batticaloa was selected for the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program 2026 and is representing Sri Lanka in the United States alongside 130 participants from 35 countries.

This achievement reflects the dedication, leadership, and community impact developed through the Youth Forum.

The CEE Program is a fully funded and highly competitive exchange initiative, implemented by IREX in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, empowering emerging leaders to drive positive change in their communities.
