Hello!
Regarding the prerelease, here are some general rules:
Please arrive one hour BEFORE the event, as we will be begin opening the packs at the designated time for each day. This will leave room for you to register, buy sleeves if you need to, eat at the venue...
There will be a 30-40 minute break for food/rest depending on how good we are on the time. (after we finish playing the second round)
The format is Sealed Limited. You have to build a 40-card minimum deck (including the lands). For more information about this format, please visit: http://magic.wizards.com/en/gameinfo/gameplay/formats/sealeddeck
All the cards that you do not include in your deck can be your sideboard, that being said, you will be provided with deck lists to write in all the cards that you are using in your main deck. This is to make sure that all players begin the new rounds with their original 40-card deck with no sideboard cards included. There will be random deck checks during the tournament, and players can request deck checks for their opponent at the beginning of every match as well.
Consequences of including sideboard cards to the original deck will include (but not limited to) receiving a warning, losing a match, or even disqualification depending on what round we are on.
You will have to use opaque sleeves for your flip cards or use the token card that you can mark to get your flip card from your side deck.
The Vancouver Mulligan Rule is to be applied in all three events: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/new-mulligan-rule-starting-battle-zendikar-prereleases-2015-08-20
The aim of the tournament is to enjoy the new set, not to win. It is a fun tournament where players, new and experienced, can be introduced to the new set without a big competitive edge.
Cheating will not be tolerated. Consequences for cheating include (but are not limited to) receiving a warning, losing a match, or disqualification. Cheating includes scrying, card-drawing, tapping the same mana twice, or any other illegal action the player takes without the action being from an effect of a certain card.
Scores are to be jotted down on a pen and paper. No electronic devices are allowed.
