On August 4 2020, my life – like the lives of so many - changed forever.
I used to live in Skyline. I lost my city. I lost my home. I lost my workspace, my belongings and a lot of irreplaceable objects and photographs that held an immense emotional value.
Despite all that, in the current situation, I’m one of the “lucky ones”.
The “lucky ones”, in case you’re wondering, are the ones who lost only their homes and belongings; no limbs or lives.
Speaking as one of the “lucky ones”, the “lucky ones” don’t feel lucky at all.
We cannot just brush off the dust.
We do not want to call ourselves resilient, rebuild and just move on...
In a country with no accountability, we are constantly rebuilding at the site of the next massacre, hoping we survive to call ourselves “lucky” again...
Two and a half years later, I am still paying the price of the blast every day – both physically and psychologically.
Two and a half years later, I still don’t see any accountability.
Two and a half years later, I still don’t have a home.
Two and a half years later, what I do have, are the remnants and traces of their crime – to never forget.
The piece is on view and available for purchase upon order until June 25, as part of the ‘Etat de siège’ exhibition curated by .
