Let us take you back to "MESH Art & Fashion stories from Lebanon," a collective exhibition we organized and curated at Zico House owned by Moustapha Yammout , Sanayeh in 2024, as part of UNESCO's program called "BERYT" to help the cultural and artistic sector in Beirut post-blast.
MESH displayed a timeline especially conceived by Joe Challita, a fashion designer behind the popular IG page "Lebanese Fashion History," and designed by Ghalia Khalili.
We had the privilege to showcase for the first time a special selection of beautifully designed costumes with the generous loan from Caracalla Dance Theatre for the duration of the show. The costumes were displayed on Giscardo Mannequins, thanks to our friend Giscard Jammal.
The most challenging part was the core of this show: five groups of participants of various backgrounds and different age groups working together.
Each group created an installation to narrate parts of the Art & Fashion history of Lebanon. The result was a rich MESH of visuals, narratives, and mediums in one space.
Many workshops were also given in parallel to the show, such as weaving, embroidery, and others, allowing interested people to experience some techniques up close and meet with the designers and artists such as Mostafa Al Sous.
In addition to the show, a pop-up shop was available, encouraging visitors and many designers and artisans.
We firmly believe that art shows are better when their doors are widely open to the general public and available for free to anyone to spend an enriching time immersing themselves in our heritage, especially children.
We had the great pleasure to have participants like Fifi Abou Dib and Anne-Marie Maïla Afeiche, among others we can't thank enough, contribute to our exhibition catalogue with the encouragements of Josiane Torbey (architect and art history teacher at University of Balamand - UOB -ALBA.
We thank our friends Rita Chahine owner of Saj Stories , Mayassa Mehdi, Aline Saadé owner of hachichit albé ... to name a few for their continuous support.
