The change of his profession in the sentencing seemed to reflect the changing of what ordinary Korean people think about tattoo culture. Old generation called it ‘Munshin’, which means Irezumi in Japanese. Well-educated persons were not supposed to do munshin at the time.
Young generation called it ‘tattoo’ in english with some cool vibe. While the term change from ‘munshin’ to tattoo, Mr.Lee also experienced the change in the distribution of hiroppong, and finally he became part of the change.
Mr.Lee. 44, was not tall, but he had a solid build and, above all, glittering eyes. I first met wth him in August 2023, about a month after he was released from penitentiary, and saw him again at the end of the year.
I’d like to talk to him because of his unique career. He's a well-known drug seller who dominated the ‘wholesale’ distribution of hiroppong on telegram in 2017. While he's not a top scale seller who handles huge quantities of goods, his using telegram for wholesale and retail sales has dramatically changed the way hiroppong is distributed.
