The "Robbing God" Passage
Part 7

Praise be to our Lord Jesus ✋ for revealing truth through keen diligence.

The last part 6 was fiery 🔥 and it's worthy reading, learning and making notes for future reference and daily regurgitation.

Let's gooo to part 7 now which is the most misquoted verse about giving by many men of God. But we'll answer all your questions and clear the air on the subject of Tithes and Tithing.

Sadly, Malachi 3:10 has been misused by scammers in the name of men of God and threaten curse to Christians. Well, let me expose their ignorance.

Malachi 3:10 "Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, 'How have we robbed you?' In your tithes and contributions. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

Qn1: Who was God talking to? Malachi 1:1 "The Oracle of the word of the Lord to Israel"
Vs 2 "And now, O priests, this command is for you"

Notice, this was not written to the church. It was written to Israel, under the Old Covenant, specifically to corrupt priests and the nation of Israel who had gone back to the Law.

Firstly, we're not Israel under the Law. We're the Church under Grace - Galatians 3:13 "Christ redeemed is from the curse of the Law"

Qn2: What was the Tithe and Storehouse?

Nehemiah 13:5,12 explains it with clarity.

Storehouse= rooms in the Temple in Jerusalem.

Tithe = food: grain, wine, oil, cattle. For Levites, widows and orphans - Deuteronomy 14:22-29

It was not money 🤑!!! Hellooooo....

It was farm produce to feed people in Israel.
Why was it given? "That there may be Food in my house" - Malachi 3:10

Here is the challenge to the current church preachers 👇
When was the last time you Pastors put your farm produce - maize, beans and cows in the storehouse? Any 👂?

If we're going to use Malachi let's use all the verses. Let's not be selective. Hellooooo...

Qn3: Why were they "Robbing God"?
Malachi 2:1-2, the priests offered polluted bread, blind animals, lame animals. They were keeping the best for themselves and giving God leftovers.

They also refused to pay the tithe that supported the Levites - Nehemiah 13:10 " the Levites and singers had fled". So the work of God stopped.

They were robbing God by disobeying the Law of Moses. Not by failing to pay 10% of salary 😺.

The Curse and Blessing
You're curses with a curse - Deuteronomy 28 lists the curses of the Law for disobedience ;- drought, locusts and poverty.

"Open the windows of heaven"
Deuteronomy 28: 12 "The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land".

This is Law language. Blessing and curse for obedience/disobedience to Moses.

In this dispensation, Galatians 3:13 -14 "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law...so that we might receive the promised spirit through faith".

We're blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ - Ephesians 1:3.

Not because we pay 10%, but because of the Cross.

Qn4: Can we "Test" God today?
"Put me to the test" - This was God inviting Israel to obey the Law and see if He would send rain.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:7 "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test'"

We don't trust God with money to see if He will bless us. We give by faith not to manipulate Him.

Notably, Malachi 3 is about Israel breaking the Law of Moses.

It's not a command of New Testament Church.

We are not under curse. We are not under the Law of Moses.

We give cheerfully.

The Priesthood Changed So Is The Law!
Part 6
We've been in this series of understanding TITHE AND TITHING and it's been very informative, too much learning, unlearning and relearning in details. To understand this flow, get back to our study series from part 1 - 5.

Now let's gooo to the next part 👇👇👇
Hebrews 7:5, 12
"For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessity of change in the law as well"

This verse slays and knocks down theological stunts. Haha, it's actually a theological knockout punch 👊✊.

The core truth is that, Tithe was legally tied to Levites. You can't separate tithe from priesthood. When priesthood changed, the law also changed.

In this case, we've got two priesthood;
1) Levitical priesthood
2) Melchizedek priesthood

A)From Levi, son of Jacob.
This was started with Moses who came up with the Law. Tithe was collected according to Numbers 18:21 and many priests died. This priesthood was temporary, weak and imperfect.

Now let's study the next priesthood 👇
From Melchizedek, King of Salem, this was before the Law of Moses and before the Levi was born according to Genesis 14. Here, Tithe was received without a single command, Genesis 14:20. Which means it was voluntary and it was given to one priest who lives forever as Hebrews 7:24 records. Notably, it was permanent, eternal and perfect. Hallooooo🫵😄

Let me break it down for you 👇
Hebrews 7:5-12 "And those descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment in the Law to take tithes from people".
Here is the point 👉, The legal right to collect tithe wa given to Levi by Law. And this means without Levi, no legal right to tithe 🤓.
Verse 11 "Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood...what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek?"

According to this verse we've read, the point to note here is that the Law and the tithe system couldn't make us perfect or righteous. So God brought a better system. I mean, this pointed to Christ Jesus 🙏.

Here is the bomb now 👇
Verse 12 "For when there is a change in the priest, there is necessity a change in the law as well".

It's important to note this that Jesus is now our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, and not after the order of Levi 🤓 👉 Hebrews 7:17.

The Levitical priesthood has been changed and therefore set aside 👉 Hebrews 7:18. Therefore, the Law that commanded tithe to Levites was also set aside or changed.

You cannot mix the priesthood. You can't operate a Melchizedek Priest with Levitical laws.

Let's deep dive more

Hebrews 7:4-10 " See how great this man was to whom Abraham...gave a tenth... one might even say that Levi himself...paid tithes through Abraham "

~Abraham gave to Melchizedek for free without a single command. It was a voluntary, one-time as mentioned and it was from the spoils of war before the Law.

~Israelites gave to Levi which was a command from God as scriptures suggest. It was given yearly from the farm produce. This was a Law after Moses.

~Levi pointed to Jesus Christ 🙏. Notice, Levi was "in Abraham" so he paid tohe to Melchizedek. This shows Melchizedek is greater and Levi's system is inferior. And now that Jesus is our High Priest, we follow him, not Levi.

Hebrews 7:18-19
"For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weaknesses and uselessness, for the law made nothing perfect ".

The law was set aside and tithe wa lart of that former commandment. It was weak because it couldn't change the heart. It was useless because it couldn't make righteous. So Christ replaced it 🫵😎.

Galatians 3:24-25 "the law was our guardian until Christ came"

How do we give now? Hebrews 7:23-25 "Bet he holds his priesthood permanently... consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him".

Understand this, under the Levi, the Law, you could give 10% to stay in covenant and avoid curse states in Malachi 3:10, the most misquoted verse of all time. Now you're already in the new Covenant by the blood of Jesus Christ offered once and for all. You're a son and you give out of love and joy 👉 2 Corinthians 9:7

Romans 8:15 "you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear"

In the Levitical priesthood system of giving, they gave 10% as a command and out of the fear of curse to support the Levites. However, in this New Covenant of Grace, we decide in our hearts and give cheerfully, out of love of God 🙏 🤲. We do not support Levites but we support the work of God - the gospel to he preached to the 🌎 🌍, support saints and the poor.

In this New Covenant of Christ Jesus 🙏, you don't owe him anything and so you don't pay a debt for Christ paid 100%. No works needed anyway. He gave his life fully. You're set free from every yoke of bo***ge.

Jesus Christ ended Levi and started the Melchizedek priesthood. We now give by GRACE and not by LAW.

You follow Jesus not priests. You've been made a priest already - 1 Peter 2:9 You don't need another human priest.

The Early Church And Giving
Part 5
Let's gooo 🔥 with the continuation of our subject. Make sure you make notes to arrive to the full understanding of TITHE AND TITHING.

Qsn: How did the early Church give?

Firstly, the apostles never commanded tithe. Not once mentioned. Acts to Revelation is zero commands. Instead they taught grace giving.

Acts 2:44-45 & Acts 4:32-35, the Jerusalem Church.
"...And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need."

Notice the following 👇
~Voluntary: Acts 5:4 Peter tells Ananias "Was it not at your disposal?" Nobody forced them.
~Based on need: Acts 4:35 "distributed to each as any has need". Not 10% flat rate.
~No mention of tithe: They sold houses, lands, businesses. 100%, 50%, whatever the spirit led them.

1 Corinthians 16:1-2 - The Weekly collection.
"On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper..."

Notice;
of you - individual responsibility, not just rich people.
day of the week - Sunday. This is New Covenant pattern.
he may prosper - proportional, but no fixed percentage. If you prosper more, you give more.
: " so that when I come no collections will be made" - for the poor saints in Jerusalem.

Notably, no mention of 10% anywhere. Apostle Paul could have said, " tithe" here. He didn't.

2 Corinthians 8,9 - the grace of giving.
This is the New Testament textbook on giving.

2 Corinthians 8:3 "For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord."

2 Corinthians 9:7 "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

"As he has decided in his heart"
"Not reluctantly" - meaning no guilt trips
"Not under compulsion " - the Greek word here is = necessity, force, law.
Tithe is a law. And this rejects it.
"Cheerful giver " - Greek word used is = hilarious/ joyful giving.

This suffices to say that God ain't looking for your 10% but rather looking for your heart. Law give out of fear. God gives out of love.

1 Timothy 5:17-18 & Galatians 6:6
"Let the elders who rule we'll be considered worthy of double honor especially those who labor in preaching and teaching."

Paul quotes Deuteronomy 25:4 " don't muzzle the ox" to say ministers should be supported. Be he never says "worthy of honor " = support.
How? Philippians 4:15-16 - Churches sent gifts to Paul.

In 1 Corinthians 9:14 " the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel."

Supporting the ministry was out of free will offering, not mandatory tithe.

What the Early Church Didn't Do!
The early Church did not;
1) pass offering plates and say "this is tithe"
2) put people under Malachi 3:10- curse threats
3)have a Levitical system
4) teach that 10% is the minimum
Instead, they taught generous giving, sacrifice, and meeting needs. Furthermore, the church didn't tithe. The church gave and gave more that 10%.

Romans 12:1 "present your bodies as a living sacrifice"

The early Church practised radical, generous, voluntary giving. There's no apostle ever collected tithe or taught to the church.

Our model is Grace, not Law.

What Did Jesus Teach About TITHE?
Part 4

Now let's deep dive to the next part 👇👇
This is very critical part of this subject because Jesus mentioned Tithe and many ignorant people take it and quote it wrongly without understanding the context.

Notably, Jesus only mentioned TITHE 3 times in the Gospel books 📚. And all the 3 times He was talking to people under the law. This is very important to understand that Jesus came in the dispensation of the Law.

Matthew 23:23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and anise and cu**in, but you have neglected the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faith. These you should have practiced, without neglecting the other. Blind guides! You strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!

Luke 11:39-44 And the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but your inner part is full of greed and wickedness. You fools! Did not he who made the outside also make the inside? But give away what is inside as charity, and then all things are clean to you.
“But woe to you Pharisees! For you give tithes of mint and rue and every kind of herb, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you should have practiced without leaving the other undone.
“Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the seats of honour in the synagogues, and greetings in the marketplaces.
“Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like unmarked graves, which men walk over unaware”.”

Let's make the following observations;
A) Who were the audience? Jesus was talking to Pharisees who were under the Mosaic Law. The New Testament has not started yet;
Hebrews 9:16-17
Now where there is a testament, of necessity there must also be the death of the one who made it. For a testament is in force only after men are dead. It has no power at all while the one who made it is living.

B) What were they tithed; "Mint, cumin, dill" ;- these were herbs from the agricultural produce. This wasn't money 🤑. It was agricultural, just like Leviticus 27:30-31 And all the tenth part of the produce of the land, whether the grain of the land or the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD. And if a man would ever redeem any of his tithes, he must add to it its fifth part.

C)These you ought to have done : present tense 😬. Why? Because the Law was still in force. Jesus was born under the Law. Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fulness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might be adopted as sons.

D) The weightier matters: Justice, mercy and faith. Jesus wasn't canceling tithe here. He was correcting the status of their hearts while still under the Law.

E) Timing: The cross has not happened. The veil was not torn. The priesthood had not changed yet; Hebrews 7:12 But the priesthood having been changed, it is necessary that there be a change of the law also. For the one about whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, and from it no man served at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord sprang from Judah, and about this tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

Notably, Jesus was not giving a command to the Church in this context but rather he was correcting Pharisees who were breaking the Law while pretending to keep it.

Luke 18:12 , about the Pharisee's prayer 🤲, "I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get."

You see, this Pharisee was boasting in Law-keeping to be justified. Jesus told this parable to show that self-righteousness doesn't save - Luke 18:9.

Tithe here is used as an example of works of the Law ". It's not a command for believers. It's a picture of someone trusting in performance.

Jesus never told his disciples to tithe. He never told the 70 to collect tithe 👉 Luke 10:4. Jesus never told the Church in Matthew 28 to teach tithe. In all his teachings on giving in Mark 12:41-44, Luke 6:38, there's no mention of 10% 😎.

The Cross Changed Everything

Hebrews 7:12 But the priesthood having been changed, it is necessary that there be a change of the law also.

Note the following:
1) Old priesthood: Levitical. They collected tithe according to Numbers 18:21
2) New priesthood: Jesus Christ was the priest after the order of Melchizedek - Hebrews 7:11-12
3) Resultant Effect: When the priesthood changed, the law of tithe also changed. 👇👇👇👇 Hebrews 7:18-19 For without doubt the previous commandment has been annulled because of its weakness and uselessness. For the Law made nothing perfect, but bringing in a better hope did, and by this hope we draw near to God.

Galatians 3:24-25 Therefore the Law was a tutor in charge of us to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under this tutor.

It's very important to understand as a believer that Jesus wasn't against the Law since priesthood existed. He perfectly kept the Law while he lived on earth - Matthew 5:17. However, after the resurrection, he instituted a New Covenant with different principles of giving..........................................................................

Tithe Was For The Levites, Not Pastors 🫵

Let's kick in the continuation of our lesson - all about TITHE.

The New Testament ministries are not Levites. They do not exist!
Numbers 18, clearly shows tithe belonged to Levites who served in the Tabernacle and couldn't own land.
There are no Levites today. And in the New Testament, we are all priests in Christ. There's no exclusive priests but all born again Christians qualify to be priests.
Numbers 18:21 And, see, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance, for the work which they perform in the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, so that you may declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light,

Revelation 1:6 ...and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Notably, the Levitical system ended with Christ's presence. This is clearly shown in Hebrews 7:12-16 But the priesthood having been changed, it is necessary that there be a change of the law also. For the one about whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, and from it no man served at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord sprang from Judah, and about this tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
And this matter is far more evident, since according to the likeness of Melchizedek another priest arises, who has become one, not according to the law having to do with a command concerning bodily origins, but according to the power of an endless life.

If the priesthood was changed then it's necessary that the law be changed. And in this dispensation, we're not under that law. We're free from the yoke of the bo***ge and have embraced grace; And from his fulness we all have received, and grace upon grace.
John 1:16-17 For the Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Pastors today's are not from the tribe of Levi. Surprisingly, today pastors are claiming a specific portion and share of money 🤑 💰 in the name of Tithes. They demand tithe as a command from God however God didn't command it. This is a scam ideology and this is to mix Old Covenant priesthood with the New Covenant priesthood which is wrong..............................................................

ABRAHAM AND TITHE
Part 2
Tithe is not a doctrine but a one-time event. Many so called servants of God have made it a doctrine.

Now let's deep dive 💪 in this part 2 on this subject of Tithes.
Genesis 14:18-20 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was the priest of the Most High God. And he blessed him, saying, “Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth, and blessed be the Most High God Who has delivered your enemies into your hand”. And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

But he whose descent is not traced from them received tithes from Abraham, and blessed him who had the promises.
And here men that die receive tithes. But there they are received by one about whom it is affirmed that he lives. And, I may say, Levi also, who receives tithes, paid tithes in Abraham. For he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
Hebrews 7:6, 8-10

Now from the context of the verses we've read today we learn that Abraham had just rescued Lot and recovered goods from 4 kings. This was war spoils, not salary or farm produce.

He presented tithe, in verse 20, to Melchizedek, king of Salem and Priest of God Most High. The context is very clear that there's no God's commands to give tithe.

After this scripture, there's no any records of Abraham tithing again. Not from his wealth in Genesis 13:2, not from Isaac's inheritance.

Hebrews 7:4-10 "...See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils!"

It's very important to understand that establishing doctrine is very critical and in this case, you cannot build a doctrine of continuous tithing on a one-time voluntary act of war. Abraham gave 10% once. Jacob vowed voluntarily 10% once without a God's command (Genesis 28:22 "...of all that you give me I will give a tenth to you". This was a conditional vow, not a law. God never gave a command whatsoever.

Notably, Abraham's tithe proves preeminence of Melchizedek over Levi, not that believers must tithe (Hebrews 7:9-10).

Tithe And Tithing part 1

Now let's deep dive 💪

The word means "Tenth"
In Hebrew it's called 'aser which means "tenth part".
In this contextual tradition, it was always in this specific percentage. Notably, the content and context matter.

There were three main tithe laws in the Mosaic covenant. Notice, it was Mosaic covenant.

1) The Levitical Tithe
Numbers 18:21-24 " ...to the Levites I have given every tithe in Israel for an inheritance..."

Concerning the verse above, it's important to ask yourself very important questions and get answers right away:
~Who paid the tithe? It was paid by farmers of Israel
~Who received the tithe? The Levites
~What was the reason for paying tithe? The tithe was paid because Levites had no land inheritance. They served full-time in the Tabernacle/Temple (Numbers 18:31).
~How often was the tithe given? It was done yearly.

2) The Festival Tithe
Deuteronomy 14:22-26 "...you shall tithe all the yield of your seed....And you shall eat there before the Lord your God..."

Again, ask yourself the very logical questions:
~Who paid the tithe? The TITHER himself
~Whi received tithe? The the TITHER plus the family guests.

Notably, tithe was preserved as a food security for national welfare.
~What was the purpose of the tithe? To learn to fear the Lord. It was basically a holy vacation fund. Helloooo...

If the journey was too far, they converted produce to money, travelled then bought food and ate it before the Lord 🙏.
Something important to notice; tithe wasn't money 🤑 but agricultural produce. Obviously, they can't eat money 🤑 but agricultural products. It's not that money wasn't there. Money was there from before and that's why they had to sell their agricultural produce because they had no vehicles or planes to transport their produce. Then they had to buy in replacement of what they sold.
Again this was done yearly.

3) The Poor Tithe
Deuteronomy 14:28-29 "...At the end of every three years...you shall lay it up within your towns. And the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow...shall eat and be filled"

Who received? Poor, Widows, orphans, strangers, and Levites.
Tithes are meant for caring for widows, orphans and foreigners (Deuteronomy 26:12-13).
How often? Every 3rd year.

This totalled types 3 types of tithes🫵not 1.

Now let's see what was tithed👇👇👇👇
Leviticus 27:30 "Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord's..."

It was agricultural products which are grains, wine, oil and cattle.
Money was only used if the produce was too far. And if you converted it, you had to add 20% according to Deuteronomy 14:24-26.

Here is the challenge 👇
In those times there were soldiers, carpenters, engineers, doctors, fishermen and generally business men but there's not a single command where they were unequivocally mentioned to tithe their salary. Halloooooo...
You won't find it anywhere. Tithe was land-based.

Basically, the tithe was a law meant for sustaining a nation 😀. It wasn't to a pastor as we're told today. It's a very huge mistake to apply that law today. Sadly, it's been falsified to be money 🤑 💰 to all believers.

ARE YOU A GOOD TITHER LIKE ME?
Sometimes we follow biblical teachings blindly without understanding what it all about. Everyone has fallen victim of this. However, those who're skeptical 💭 and wise, they go study more and desire to know "why" some doctrines have to be practised especially in modern day functions.

Some of us have embraced practices that sounds as doctrinal traditions. Contrary, they're nowhere to be found substantiated faithfully within the embeddings of Bible scriptures.

Again we have to unlearn, learn and relearn on very critical subjects as far as scriptures are concerned.

On this matter, I having been set free from every yoke of the bo***ge, I can confidently say that rightly dividing the word of truth wins against any jurisdiction of believers of the Bible.

Briefly touching on , and in the Old Testament, I want to install clarity on this important subject.

I've noted some are wandering about where to tithe and to who deserves tithe more than the other.

Somebody came over and said to me, " Hello bro I'm confused 😕🤔 where to tithe because I'm currently serving in a different church far from my home church. Now I have another pastor and I don't know whether I should divide the tithe or give it in full in alternating series".

Mmmhhhh my brother is really stuck😸in dilemma and limbo.

Just little tip and a tipsy knowledge to stir up that dilemma.👇👇

Don't give it to anyone. Just eat it if it's edible 😸. Don't distress yourself anymore.

They said "opportunities comes once". Well, I don't know. Probably whoever said that got only one. But the truth is, the world is dynamic.Tables turn. Seasons change.
Circumstances shift.

You could have several opportunities but how you manage them is what matters.

In this case wisdom is key.

Wisdom will maintain and keep it in longevity. Wisdom builds. Wisdom sees beyond excitement and plans for tomorrow's storms.

Sometimes the excitement is an enemy of good progress. Again, slothfulness is an enemy too because you might mess up with someone's investment and end up being fired!

Humility will keep you steady and obedient in response to the progress. It'll give you understanding of reading signs and responding perfectly. This will effectively evade you from danger and make careful choices.

When one begins to feel on top of the world, you want everybody to see you and expose how glittering favors are coming through, traces of pride comes in.

Boasting is outspoken by dummies who're low IQ. Those folks who never sees the end from the beginning of a matter and no sense of how temporal the boat might sink.

Additionally, they said "Pride comes before a fall", but it's not observed or considered until the last hour is gone permanently. It's learned the hard way because of ignorance to the reality of the experienced.

Pride and arrogance are borne out of ignorance. And their repercussions are inevitable. You cry in pain and heavy heart while knowing the reason. You didn't know it until you grasped it at your hands. That's why they said " Experience is the best teacher". And in this case it's a personal teacher lol. The boat just capsizes like that and it's gone. Crocodile tears of arrogance reaps heavily.
Crocodile tears cannot rebuild what arrogance destroyed.

Guarding your boat it's your responsibility. Maintaining it it's your greatest effort you can do.

Sail with wisdom. Stay afloat with humility. Because opportunities may come again - but character is what determines if you'll still have a boat when they do.
