Hi there :)
Welcome to my page. My name is Adikinyi. I am a multidisciplinary artist who works in art music and literature. The picture above is the last self-portrait that I created. I rarely show my face on social media and this brings me joy.
A little bit more about me :
- My former instagram name was antisocial_octopus. I began posting on this profile when I was 19 which is why the first post is dated to the 1900's. Currently, I am 30 years old going on 31 years old. I have 6 year locs on my head. I am a woman.
- In the recent years, I have spent a lot of time away from social life and the Nairobi art culture. My solitude has had me spend a lot of time with my cat Scott aka Biscotti Thursday.
- I live in Nairobi and I am 100% Kenyan, born and raised.
- I ran a website, adikinyi.co.ke, where I post most of my work. All my work is done by me - no AI involved. I began my relationship with the arts and music when I was a primary school student learning the Piano. i began my artist career as a photographer. I continue to make art and music which has also always grown alongside my writing.
-I love flowers, coffee astronomy, poetry and pancakes. I read lots of books and love to listen to music album from top to bottom. Currently I am reading 'I shall not be moved' by Maya Angelou and I am currently listening to the Mick Jenkins discography.
-My website is called The Split Mind (Gorilla) Archives, which is a reference to an illness I was diagnosec with. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2018 and I have been medicated ever since. My website is an expression of art, music and literature through my perspective since I was diagnosed and is equal parts crazy and creative. I don't bite, so feel free to reach out to me.
That;s most of what you need to know about me. The rest will revela itself through my work. Welcome to my corner of the internet.
The link in my bio is everything you may need to navigate my work from my mailing list subscription to articles and interviews about past exhibitions and links to purchasing my art.
Karibu sana and stay safe in these streets. 🖤 🖖🏿
