This was shared last Dec by Comforter Samson (Malawi) for "The Last Word Dec'2025" series.

We shared it recently on stories and it deserves a permanent spot on the timeline.

To read the full article, check the link in the highlight "The Last Word" or on LinkedIn, at the link in bio...

Better late than never... And there are nuggets in it that aren't time bound. Enjoy.

Ultimate Silence

- a poem inspired by an image of solitude, time, and erosion.

Sometimes the loudest moments are the ones where nothing moves.

Enjoy this poem by Alex Ontiri.

When Light Finds You

This year reminded me
that healing isn’t a straight line.
Some days I moved forward with confidence,
and on others I slipped back into old wounds
I thought I had outgrown.

But even in the stumbling, God never left.
His presence held me in the quiet moments—
in prayers I whispered half-believing,
in strength that appeared exactly
when mine ran out.

I learned that healing doesn’t always look like joy.
Sometimes it looks like rest,
sometimes like tears,
sometimes like finally releasing
what was never mine to carry.

And hope…
hope came softly.
Not as a sudden burst,
but as a gentle returning—
a small light warming the corners of my life,
one day at a time.

I’m still becoming whole,
but I’m no longer afraid of the process.
Because I’ve seen how God turns breaking into mending,
how He brings purpose out of pain,
and beauty out of what once felt impossible.

If this year leaves me with anything,
let it be this:
nothing is wasted in God’s hands,
and hope always rises—
even from the quietest places.

Here's our first piece in our December series: "The Last Word", written by the wonderful Laura Omamo.

She writes children's books and is working on a romance novel. She doesn't function without chai, her journal or her notebook. She teaches writing, journaling and fermenting amongst other things. But most of the time she's trying to let her homeschooled children be her teachers and connect with nature outside Nakuru. She has a WhatsApp Channel where she regularly shares free journaling prompts and challenges:

Enjoy reading Laura's last word on the year 2025, and I hope it's as inspiring to you as it has been to me..

What's would you say about 2025, after reading this piece?

The love and messages I got from some of you after sharing on grief and love in the Emi's Writing Hub WhatsApp channel earlier today has showed me once again how writing creates connection.

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking stock of what’s been.

There’s healing in words.
There are epiphanies in writing.
There’s clarity in the pen.

Below is a call to writers.

We’re looking forward to your submissions, which we’ll be sharing throughout the month of December — according to our weekly schedule already posted here and across our platforms.

May your words find you, and may they bring light to others along the way.

Ps. Please tag/share with someone you know or feel may have something to share by way of writing.

▫️ Thrum Thursday | The heartbeat of thought; deeper reflections
▫️ Faithful Friday | Grounding in hope, grace, and gratitude
▫️ Soulful Saturday | Creativity, connection, and inner stillness
▫️ Still Sunday | Quiet words for rest, reset, & renewal

I'm so proud of myself! Head over to the link in bio to read this article.

It has been sitting in my drafts for three months & I just finished working on it today?

I've finally finished the 8-week writing challenge by & I learnt a lot from it.

What stuck most with me was that consistency doesn't have to be perfect. Just keep writing, or doing what you need to, even if slowly...

I'm finding that the best kind of growth is gradual... Where you pace yourself, reflect on the steps taken, evaluate where you are, before taking the next ones. This is true even in writing.

Thank you Judy for this challenge. I'll definitely keep writing... One word at a time.
