What if care for older adults felt as easy online as it is in person?
That question shaped every design decision behind Havenly, a warm, intuitive platform that I designed to help older adults and their families find compassionate care and support.
When I first received this brief, it immediately felt personal. Most of us have someone we love, a parent, a grandparent, a relative, who’s growing older and may one day need extra care and support.
Research shows that many older adults prefer to age at home or in community-based settings. But how do we make these services accessible online, especially for users who aren’t as digitally fluent?
That’s where Havenly comes in.
The goal? To build a platform that not only works beautifully but feels beautiful and easy to use for everyone, especially older adults and caregivers.
✨ Key design choices included:
1. A clear, welcoming interface with a soft, airy visual language
2. Large tap targets for people with motor impairments
3. High color contrast and readable type for visual accessibility
4. Warm, human-centered UX writing
5. Step-by-step onboarding that reduces cognitive load
6. Social proof and FAQs to build confidence and trust
But beyond usability, Havenly needed to feel human, to bring calm, to restore dignity, independence, and to offer peace of mind in a space that often feels clinical or overwhelming.
I tested the prototype with close family and friends, some of whom were genuinely moved. A few said they’d sign up for their own parents today if the service was available. That meant the world.
