Tems might be out there wondering why Music Base Africa didn’t celebrate her birthday — she could even feel overlooked. But that’s far from the truth.

All day, I’ve been reflecting on what African music would look like without Tems — and honestly, it just doesn’t add up.

Tems is without question the most influential female artist Nigeria has ever produced.

She entered the scene with nothing but raw talent. No major label backing, no huge budget, and no need for flashy visuals. Just pure skill and dedication.

She started off creating her own music from her bedroom — not for fame, but for the love of the art — and that love carried her to the top.

She’s broken barriers — the first Nigerian female artist to earn two Grammy Awards in this century. And now, she’s set to become the first Nigerian to perform at the Club World Cup halftime show.

She’s admired by Rihanna. She’s respected by Beyoncé. She’s celebrated by Wizkid. And here at Music Base Africa, we admire her deeply.

Tems is a true inspiration — a shining example for every young African girl dreaming big.

Today, she marks her 30th birthday! 🎉

If you’re proud of her journey and proud to be African, come together and show her some love! ❤️

Happy Birthday, Temilade! 🎉
