Beacon of HOPE CBO joined over 300 youths at the launch of Kisumu County International Youth Day 2025 at Miya Ywetch MRF, Mamboleo, under the theme “Local Youth Action for SDGs and Beyond.” 🌍💪

Young people shared powerful messages on grassroots innovation, inclusive development, and youth-led solutions for a better future.

We believe empowered youths are the driving force for sustainable change. We remain committed to equipping young people with skills, opportunities, and platforms to lead in education, health, digital literacy, civic engagement, environmental action, and economic empowerment.

🌟 Beacon of HOPE CBO | Empowering Widows, Restoring Dignity 🌟

Yesterday, at Nyamarimba Chief’s Camp, we successfully held our Widows Profiling and Dialogue Event, where we profiled over 200 widows from South West Nyakach! 🙌

The event was graced by our area chief, and brought together key partners who made a big impact:
✅ SIFA Community Based Organization Facilitated financial literacy training, widows’ support programs, and introduced zero-waste living in widowhood for sustainable livelihoods.
✅ Shining Hope for Communities Delivered powerful sessions on mental health support for widows as they face diverse challenges in their widowhood.
✅ Ramogi TV Amplified the voices of widows, ensuring their stories reach the world.

This marks the official launch of our Widows Empowerment Program, a transformative initiative to restore dignity, strengthen economic opportunities, and advocate for the rights of widows in Nyakach.

💛 Together, we are proving that when widows rise, communities thrive!

Beacon of HOPE CBO recently joined fellow stakeholders in commemorating World Population Day at St. Mary’s Legio Maria Dispensary, Daraja Mbili. In a county where 76.9% of the population is under 35, this year’s theme was a powerful reminder that youth must be at the heart of development.

We stood together with NCPD, DSW, Tinada Youth Organization, Kenya Red Cross, SHOFCO, the County Government of Kisumu, SIFA Community Based Organization and Nyalenda Young Turks Community Based Organization who hosted the event to spotlight key issues affecting our youth:
🔹 Adolescent pregnancies
🔹 HIV prevalence (11.7%)
🔹 Drug and substance abuse
🔹 Mental health challenges
🔹 Youth unemployment
🔹 Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV)

Through community dialogues, health service tents, and youth-led sessions, the event emphasized the importance of access to SRHR information, informed choices, and dignity for all.

🎤 The County Commissioner, as Chief Guest, called for urgent action to protect adolescents, enforce child protection laws, and support youth-friendly services.
🎯 The CECM for Sports, Culture, Gender, Arts & Youth Affairs reaffirmed the county’s commitment to youth empowerment, TVET expansion, and inclusive development policies.
Beacon of Hope believe that youth are not just beneficiaries—they are changemakers. We will continue to amplify their voices and champion solutions that work with and for the community.

🌍✨ Celebrating the Day of the African Child in Kisumu! ✨🌍

On June 16, 2025, Beacon of HOPE CBO proudly joined other stakeholders at Lake Primary School to mark the Day of the African Child under the theme:
“Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.”

Over 400 children participated in a vibrant celebration filled with poems, songs, and skits, all creatively highlighting how budgets affect their education and safety. 💡📚

The Kisumu County Commissioner emphasized the importance of good parenting and consistent child support. This event reminded us how powerful it is to listen to children’s voices as we work toward inclusive planning and equitable resource allocation. 🗣️👫

Let’s continue to put children at the center of decision-making. 💙

Beacon of HOPE CBO in partnership with SIFA Community Based Organization , we were honored to distribute essential household items to 50 vulnerable widows in Nyakach. This initiative is part of our continued efforts to uplift and support women, ensuring their wellbeing, dignity, and right to be heard.

These strong women have endured so much — and today, we not only brought them practical support, but also stood in solidarity to amplify their voices and advocate for a more inclusive, caring community.

Together, we are building a future where no one is left behind.
