Blackillest Entertainment Experience – Official Statement on the Passing of Raila Odinga
As a proud Kenyan from Kibera and a member of the Luo fraternity, and on behalf of the entire Blackillest Entertainment Experience family as well as the Luo community, we stand united in mourning the loss of Raila Odinga—a true son of the people, a visionary leader, and a beacon of hope for millions within Kenya, across Africa, and around the world.
Raila was more than a politician. He was a symbol of resilience, unity, and an unwavering commitment to justice and democracy. His journey was marked by courage in the face of adversity and an unshakeable belief in the power of the people. As the representative of Lang’ata, which includes Kibera, he tirelessly fought for the rights of the marginalized, championing equality, dignity, and a better life for all.
Beyond Kenya, Raila was a fearless advocate for the rights of Blacks and Africans everywhere. From the early days of his activism, he stood as a defender of justice for oppressed peoples globally, a true Pan-Africanist who believed in the liberation and empowerment of Black people worldwide.
His love for Kibera was genuine. He understood our struggles because he came from a place of empathy and connection. Raila’s leadership inspired hope not only in Kibera and among the Luo community but across the entire nation and internationally. Known affectionately as “Baba,” his influence extended beyond Kenya’s borders, earning respect as a statesman and advocate for democracy across Africa and the world.
At Blackillest Entertainment Experience, a brand rooted in the vibrant culture and spirit of Kenya, and within the Luo fraternity, we honor his legacy and mourn alongside millions of Kenyans, Africans, and global supporters who saw in Raila a relentless fighter for justice and progress. His vision of a united, equitable Kenya and a liberated Africa will continue to inspire generations to come.
We share some of his powerful words that capture his spirit:
“You will remember me when I am gone. The history of Kenya will not forget the struggle we have fought together. I have fought not for myself but for the generations yet to come.”
“Our destiny is not written for us but by us. We must take charge of our future through unity, justice, and democracy.”
“Leadership is not about power but about service. The moment you forget that, you lose your way.”
“I have always been a servant of the people. If I have made mistakes, they were in pursuit of a better Kenya.”
“When we fight for justice, we are fighting not only for ourselves but for the dignity of every Kenyan.”
We also reflect on a sentiment, while not an exact quote, that deeply expresses the pain and frustration Raila experienced in his political journey:
“Kenyans, you have betrayed me! You will remember me one day, but by then, I will be long gone. My only mistake was sending experts to help Ruto rule, but instead of standing with me, you turned against me. I made Kenya, but now, I am a tool of mockery. History will judge, and one day, you will realize the price of turning away from the vision I had for this country.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Raila Odinga’s family, friends, supporters, the Luo fraternity, all Kenyans, Africans, and the global community mourning this great loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Rest in peace, Baba. Your legacy lives on forever.
