Equipping the Right Holders with information and Skills on Roads, Score Cards and Public engagements on the state of Roads in Bungoma County. We are glad. RECOGNITION

The County Assembly of Bungoma has honored Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network for leading from the front in Matters Budget Education across the 45 Wards.
The Chairman of the Assembly Commitee on Budget Hon. Otsula lead a team of other MCAs in flagging this effort.
This was categorized by Welcoming a team of Young tugs from the Wards who appeared at the County Assembly for the First time Since the Devolution Era.
During the meeting, Resident's asked the Budget Committee to cut on unnecessary spending and reallocate to projects touching on the Common Mwananchi. In Agriculture, CSO leaders proposed a reallocation of Kshs 200,000,000 from World Food Day to a Viable and Sustainable Dairy Support Project . Further the Citizens Cautioned the Executive for allocation of Millions of Money on Foreign travel.

Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network, today had a very interactive meeting with residents of Kimilili Ward in Kimilili Constituency on Access to information

The training took place at Deliverance Church around Matili TTI. A total of 10 resident's, including Youths, PLWDs, Women,FBO leaders and Men were tooled to engage on Good road Works in the Constituency.
Key areas of highlight included, Article 35,of the Kenyan Constitution, PFMA Act of 2012,County Govt Act of 2012.

The Champions also had a Session on how to administer Community Score Cards on Roads, Networking and Collaboration with other Govt bodies like CAJ,, Or the Office of the Ombudsman, EACC and the Courts in search for Information held by the State.

Our gratitude goes to European union, KIOS, Haki Ni Yetu, Inform Action, CSO NETWORK And the Citizens of Kimilili Constituency for embracing the Project.

The state of Roads in Bungoma County.

Roads in Bungoma County are categorized in 4 areas, Kenha, KuRRa, KeRRa and County Govt Roads.

Apart from Kenha Roads, Roads in the remaining categories are wanting due to the heavy down pours in the County.

Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network is currently doing Community sensitization and advocacy on the impacts of good road works and the negative effects.
Our engagement shall be centered on 4 Pilot Wards ,,, Sitikho, Misikhu, Mihuu and Kimilili Township.
Today, The trained Community Road Champions shared a situation of a road, Mangana Junction - Muchi River under the Watch of KuRRa.

This road has been earmarked for 500Ms tarmacking per year.
However , No work has been going on for the better part of this year. Immediately after Matulo RC, at Cllr Nailika , NATO and Mwalimu Namasake.. it's nightmares... Is KuRRa aware of the Challenges road users are going through !?!?

At this point in time , and according to the budget Cycle, the County Executive did submit the annual Budget estimates for approval and Public engagements by the County Assembly.
We are glad to report that today I we ad the previledge to lead a team of Civil Society Organizations and Budget Champions to attend an official session at the Bungoma County Assembly. We have discussed, Shared insights, Critic and Submitted our Memorandas to y Committee Of Budget and Appropriations, Of Bungoma County Assembly.

It's our pride again to update that the second Cohort of Champions on Access to information finished their training in Webuye East Constituency.
The training took place at Mahanga Village of Mihuu Ward. We are now at 50% on training for the Champions. Participants were tooled on How to engage the duty bearers, Carryout Community Score Cards, Collect data , Civic awareness on the Importance of Raising Citizens Voice on Good road works , Budget tracking and Policy advocacy in Bungoma County. My Regards to Rev. Alex Achuti, Collins Masinde and the Champions.... Let's keep the mantle burning.!

Today Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network Started County engagements on training Community Champions on Access to information.
The project targets 4 Wards, Sitikho, Misikhu, Mihuu and Kimilili Township. We target to train 40 Champions as trainers and Leads on advocacy for Good Infrastructure in the County
On behalf of the Secreatat, Members and the Leadership team of Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network, We wish to thank KIOS, Haki Ni Yetu Project, Inform Action, CSO Network for Capacity building us and Granting us resources to run this Rights and Governce Project in Bungoma County. In total, We shall implement 4 main activities, 1. Training Community Champions on Access to information, 2. Courtesy call to the Duty bearers, 3.Media Sessions, TV shows and Radio sessions and Lastly, Community Score Cards on 12 Roads across the 4 Wards.

Bungoma County Access to information Advocacy Project, Sets off . The Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network, today had an Inception Meeting with Key allies and Members at the Voice Of Bungoma CSOs Network Offices @ Ngwelo Trading Center. A total of 12 stakeholders attended the meeting. The meeting agenda was to inform the Participants project priorities, Activities, Budget estimates , Implementation Strategy and methodology.
Thanks to you all for attending. The Champions latter in the afternoon , engeged with the Bungoma County Budget estimates for the financial year 2026/2027. Tomorrow, the team shall meet for the Second day on technical and indepth analysis, Input and Preparation of Memorandas for Submission by Friday this week, to the County Assembly of Bungoma.
