A Different Daruma

Until now, I have created cheerful and playful Daruma in both paintings and sculptures.
This time, I wanted to explore a different emotion.

Using darker, heavier tones, I painted this F6 canvas with a sense of silence, resilience, and the strength that lies beneath the surface.

Even when the expression appears stern, there is an unshakable spirit within.

いつもとは違うダルマ

これまで私は、ポップで親しみやすいダルマを、絵画や立体作品として制作してきました。

今回は少し趣を変え、重厚な色彩を用いて、F6サイズのキャンバスに描いてみました。

静けさの中に宿る力、厳しい表情の奥にある揺るがない意志――そんなものを表現したいと思いました。

Within the depth of black, lines awaken.
Colors, held by the cold,
breathe softly as unnamed forms.
They loosen and bind,
appear and fade.
A memory of winter’s end,
and a quiet premonition
of the coming spring.
黒の奥で、線が目を覚ます。
寒さに閉じ込められた色たちは、
まだ名前を持たない形として、
静かに呼吸をはじめる。
ほどけては結び、
現れては消える。
それは冬の終わりの記憶であり、
春が来る前の、かすかな予兆。

Today at CAM.
A quiet change of scenery.
I moved the large pencil drawings upstairs
and began hanging works that once lived on these walls again—
different times, different moments, meeting here once more.
CAM will close in March.
It’s a little bittersweet,
but it doesn’t mean the end of drawing or showing my work.
I’ll keep making, and I’ll keep sharing.
Until now, most of my presentations were online,
but there’s something irreplaceable about seeing the work in person.
I’d like to keep creating chances for that, too.
今日のCAM。
少しだけ、静かに模様替えをしました。
大きな鉛筆画は2階へ移し、
かつてこの場所に飾っていた、いろいろな絵たちを
また壁に戻していこうと思います。
3月でここは一区切り。
少し寂しいけれど、描くことは終わりません。
これからも描き続け、発表し続けていきます。
これまではネットでの発表が多かったけれど、
やっぱり実物を前にしてもらえる時間も、大切にしたい。
そんな思いで、これからの場を考えています。
