In May of 2009 in Sapporo, brothers, Ryoji and Shuji, created SU***DE HEAVEN, the first incarnation of GYZE. Their fast paced, lyrical guitar melodies gave them the chance to play with many accomplished artists and reshape Sapporo’s “extreme-scene.”
The band then moved to Tokyo in 2010, changed their name to GYZE, and continued activities at full speed.

In 2012 GYZE advanced through the METAL BATTLE JAPAN event for the chance to play at the biggest metal festival in the world, WACKEN OPEN AIR. Regrettably victory escaped them, but through the event their true abilities were introduced to the world. That’s how in 2013 they came to know the Italian Disarmonia Mundi member, Ettore Rigotti who produced and engineered GYZE’s long-awaited first album. In June of that year their debut album FASCINATING VIOLENCE was released by CORONER RECORDS, an Italian label owned and run by Ettore Rigotti. Immediately following the release, there was a change to the band’s lineup and FASCINATING VIOLENCE claimed the number one spot on Amazon’s Hard Rock/Heavy Metal charts for 3 months straight (July – September 2013), as well as topped BURRN!’s foreign record charts in their October 2013 issue. In a single bound GYZE had put the Japanese metal scene on the map. Continuing their vigorous live activities, the band headed to Korea for their first overseas concert. After their first foreign show, support bassist Aruta formally joined GYZE and they made their unprecedented major debut in September of 2014 with Victor Entertainment, a full year and three months behind FASCINATING VIOLENCE’s European release. At the same time contracts were signed with EvolutionMusic (Korea) and Magnum (Taiwan) to launch their Asian debut. The band also joined forces with HOWLING BULL, the best of the best in managing extreme bands in Japan. Shortly thereafter, they set off on “Final Violence Tour 2014” in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to support the Japanese release of FASCINATING VIOLENCE. Whether at home or abroad, they were supported by their brilliant looks and unimaginably intense live performances and techniques. Following the tour final, featuring DISARMONIA MUNDI’s CLAUDIO RAVINALE at TSUTAYA O-WEST in Tokyo, another event was quickly added at ROPPONGI BLUE THEATER as a thank you to all the fans that filled O-WEST and for those who couldn’t make it. Then in February of 2015 the band’s second album, BLACK BRIDE, also produced by Ettore Rigotti, was released in Japan ahead of the rest of the world. The album features Ettore Rigotti himself on HONESTY (Track 3) as a guest vocalist. (As of June 2015 it has been released from Coroner Records world-wide.) The album seeks to light the listener’s heart on fire with its polished, weeping melody lines and refined techniques. Certainly, in that moment when the song consumes you, saying that GYZE is writing some of the hottest melodies in the world right now is no exaggeration. Furthermore, in keeping with the band’s surprising philosophy, they have introduced the Your Price System where the audience decides the price based on their satisfaction with the concert. With this innovative system they want to stress the importance of the fans’ satisfaction. Shortly after the second album’s release, in order to introduce Japan to MIDIAN (Korea) and ANTHELION (Taiwan), an event called “Vanishing Heaven Fest” was organized. At this event too audience satisfaction was priority, as always with GYZE, and a 100% money back guarantee was introduced. Afterwards, GYZE appeared with the American band UNEARTH. In May of 2015 the band toured Sapporo, Osaka, and Tokyo a second time for BLACK BRIDE TOUR 2015. This time, the band took a step up from TSUTAYA O-WEST to TSUTAYA O-EAST, a much larger venue. In 2015 GYZE were supporting DragonForce, Children Of Bodom, and Carcass in their Asian Tour. After that the band is back to Japan where Gyze will be opening on the second day of Japan’s premier metal festival LOUD PARK 2015 at Saitama Super Arena. In February 2016 GYZE are to support SOILWORK during their Japanese tour. In summer 2016 GYZE will be on stage of “Summer Breeze Open Air 2016″ and More Than Fest 2016 during their EU tour!

彼らの結成は、2009年5月にさかのぼる、RyojiとShujiの篠本兄弟を中心に札幌でその前身となる”SU***DE HEAVEN”として産声をあげた。
その疾走感あふれるボトムと全体を彩る叙情的なギター・メロディが話題になり、数々の実力派アーティストとの共演を果たし、札幌のエクストリーム・シーンに新風を巻き起こす。そして拠点を札幌より東京へ移し、バンド名を”SU***DE HEAVEN”からGYZEに改名、精力的に活動を続ける。
2012年には日本国内でも話題を呼んだ世界最大のメタルフェス”Wacken Open Air”出場をかけたMETAL BATTLE JAPAN決勝ラウンドへ進出。
惜しくも優勝を逃したもののその実力が満天下に示されることになる。
そして2013年、Disarmonia Mundiのメンバーでもあり数々の作品のプロデュースでも知られる、イタリアのEttore Rigottiをプロデューサー、エンジニアに迎え待望の1stアルバムを制作。
6月に記念すべきデビュー・アルバム『FASCINATING VIOLENCE』としてEttore Rigottiがオーナーを務めるイタリアの名門CORONER RECORDSよりリリースされる。
アルバム・リリース直後にメンバー・チェンジがあったものの、本作はAmazonのハードロック・へヴィメタル・カテゴリーランキング1位（2013年7月～9月）、また、BURRN!誌の輸入盤チャート1位（2013年10月号）も獲得するなど、日本のシーンで大きな話題となり、その名は一躍知れ渡ることとなる。
その後も精力的にライブ活動を行い、初の海外公演である韓国でのショーも成功させる。
その後サポートメンバーのAruta(B/Vo)が正式加入を果たす。
ヨーロッパより遅れること、1年3ヶ月、日本デビュー盤『ファッシネイティング・ヴァイオレンス』が逆輸入という形で2014年９月にVictor Entertainmentよりメジャーデビューという異例の経歴を持つことになる。それに伴い韓国のEvolutionMusic,台湾のMagnumと契約しアジアデビューも飾る。
時同じくし、日本屈指の鬼才を放つ世界のエクストリームバンドを扱うHOWLING BULLとマネジメント契約を締結。その後レコ発ワンマンツアー『Final Violence Tour 2014』を日本、韓国、台湾で決行。国内外問わずその華麗なルックスからは想像もつかない激しいライブ・パフォーマンスとテクニックで急速に支持をあつめた。DISARMONIA MUNDIのCLAUDIO RAVINALEをゲストに迎えたTSUTAYA O-WESTの東京公演は満員御礼となり、入りきれなかったファンの為に急遽、六本木ブルーシアターで追加公演を行う。
そして、前作に引き続きEttore Rigottiプロデュースの元、ついに2015年２月に全世界先行でセカンドアルバム「ブラック ブライド」が世界に先駆け、日本でリリースされる。※なおCORONER RECORDS盤は2015年6月発売予定。その魅力は、執拗なまでに洗練された泣きのメロディラインと、洗練されたテクニック、さらには、聴く者のハートを焼きつくすマグマのような底知れぬ熱量にある。この瞬間、まさに、GYZEは世界で最も熱いメロディーを表現するバンドに君臨したと言っても過言ではない！なお本作ではEttore RigottiがHONESTY(Track3)でゲストボーカルで参加している。
されに驚くべくは彼らの哲学だ。ライブの価値はお客さんが決めるものという考えから、Your Price System（お客さんが自分の満足度に応じて、チケット代を終演後に支払うシステム）を導入。徹底的にファンの満足度に重きをおいた斬新な活動を行っている。

そして2015年5月からセカンドアルバム「ブラック ブライド」のリリースに伴った2度目の札阪東3都市を廻るワンマン日本ツアー『BLACK BRIDE TOUR 2015』を開催。ファイナルは前回満員御礼となったTSUTAYA O-WESTからグレードを上げTSUTAYA O-EASTでおこない、巨大なモッシュピットを作りだし、興奮のまま幕を閉じた。9月には台湾でDragon Forceのオープニングアクトに抜擢、さらに10月にはChildren of Bottomとの中国ツアー、そしてLOUDPARK2015に出演、その後はドイツのAstan Asia Daysというドイツで行われるフェスにも参加している。LOUD PARKのステージでは、わずか４曲というセットにもかかわらず、早朝からウォール・オブ・デスをオーディエンスに仕掛けるという途方もないパフォーマンスで、会場を狂乱の渦に叩き込んだ。まさに「伝説のオープニングアクト」として、Twitterのトレンドにキーワードがマークされるほどの話題を生んだ。
2016年2月、SOILWORKの来日ツアーでゲスト・アクトとして東名阪ツアーを同行。また今夏はドイツの巨大メタル・フェス”SUMMER BREEZE” (Slayer, Arch Enemy, Sabaton, Asking Alexandria 等出演)を皮切りにEUツアーが決定してる。
