Ten years ago, he was a 19 year-old WWOOFer. He visited several hosts in Japan. He took care of chickens, made dried potatoes, harvested rice, cooked fish, etc. Now he is a WWOOF Japan host, h68175! ☺️ He & his wife have started a nature school for children in Oita, Kyushu.

This was the 1st day WWOOFing, for a French person at a Fukushima-ken host, in Japan. She helped apply clay to the walls, in renovating a house. She continued WWOOFing at several hosts. She said: "Through WWOOFing, I learned so many things, such as seeding, weeding, collecting vegetables. But also how to make washi paper, using weeding machines. And even renovating old houses. I also had many opportunities to speak and improve my Japanese. Including new vocabulary related to farming, such as komatsuna 小松菜、kusatori 草取り, yutampo 湯たんぽ, etc. All the hosts were very kind. I'm super grateful that I could participate in Wwoof Japan.”

A WWOOF Japan host, who has had more than 100 WWOOFers, was featured in "Japan Seed News Paper". A WWOOFer from Switzerland learned the organic farming skills at this farm, and is currently promoting fermented soy foods in his country.

Mikans (mandarins in English) are an essential fruit in winter in Japan. Their white veins, and thin skin, help prevent colon cancer and reduce blood cholesterol. So it's good to eat them!

A WWOOFer from Singapore was energetic. She cooked delicious meals for her WWOOF host in Saga prefecture (h47123). The host family was happy to have her. She is holding goya, which is a bitter vegetable, that contains much vitamin C. In English, it seems it’s called a ‘bitter melon’ or a ‘bitter gourd’.

A WWOOFer from the Netherlands, has just arrived at Tokyo station. His name is Sem. He is going to start WWOOFing at several places in Japan. He said: "My goal is to support local communities, and learn about Japanese culture. As a social-work student, I’m deeply interested in learning how Japanese society deals with social issues.” We say: Good luck Sem! Many WWOOFers have a specific purpose, to do WWOOFing in Japan. And we encourage it.
