A DEEPLY MOVING FILM – A MUST-SEE! 🎬: A Missing Part / また君に会えるまで 🔥🫶
Last Friday, I had the chance to attend the Japanese premiere of A Missing Part. I had been waiting to see this film for a long time, for several reasons.
First, because the subject, parental child abduction in Japan, deeply moves me. For those who know me, I spent two years researching and filming on this topic for a documentary that I unfortunately never managed to finance. I am therefore very familiar with the stakes and mechanisms behind this profoundly outraging systemic issue.
Secondly, I have always deeply admired the work of Romain Duris. His acting, raw, instinctive, yet subtle and incredibly truthful has always moved me, both in acting moments of joy and tragedy. I see the same qualities in the work of director Guillaume Senez, whose previous film "Our Struggles" I also loved.
Thirdly, it’s a French film! Cocorico! 😜
Finally, while this film was in development, I had the opportunity to coach few actors for the auditioning prep. Needless to say, my expectations were high.
And yet… the film exceeded them.
Everything feels right: the way the subject is handled, the direction, and the powerful soundtrack. I’m truly glad this film is being shown in Japan, which was far from guaranteed, given the reluctance of Japanese distributors when it comes to works portraying a darker side of the Japanese society.
A huge congratulations to the entire team!!! MERCI BEAUCOUP!!! ありがとうございます!
