DJ Bahstid (Butter Bar)

South African born Bahstid started out playing alternative rock in the
late 90’s, but soon moved into more DJ orientated styles during the
BigBeat and Breaks eras. By the time he opened Hakuba’s “Butter Bar”
in 2007, he’d gained a reputation as a Drum n Bass DJ and used the
venue as a platform for new DJs as well as established ones passing
through Hakuba. After 3 years, the concept outgrew the space, and
Butter Bar started organizing events in other venues, bringing a
diverse range of world class artists to the mountains. Collaborating
with organizers from across Japan, Bahstid helped establish Hakuba as
a top level musical destination with artists such as Rhadoo, Move D,
Rrose, Peter van Hoesen, Juno Reactor, The Upbeats and Dub FX all
playing under the Butter Bar banner. Along the way, Bahstid has held a
residency in a
reggae bar, occasionally surprised dancefloors with a hip hop set, and
dabbled in everything from nu-jazz to dubstep, but is currently best known for
somewhat dark edgy techno with a psychedelic twist
