Hussam Al Rassam studied in Al Halla Iraqi city, where he learnt the ethics of music and Al Maqamat, in addition to the assets of Qur’an recitation. Indeed, he was awarded the price of the best Babel’s Qur’an reader more than once. Meanwhile, he used to participate in many special events organized at school. In 1995, he moved to Baghdad to study at the Fine Arts University, where he fulfilled his
dream by joining the Music department. In the same Province, Baghdad, the artist got acquainted with the most Iraqi prominent artists, by whom he was taught the Oud. Later on, he was obliged to leave the country pushed by the deteriorating security situation, to be scatterd between Jordan, Syria, and the UAE. In these countries he toured, Hussam was fast recognized as a real artist, due to the Iraqi community living there, and to his skillful performance of the old Mawawil songs in addition to the nostalgic ones alluding to the Iraqi tragedy. In 2007 he released the album “Kane khadem”, then “Dehkou alena” in 2009, besides his participation in many festivals, by the end of which, he was very often rewarded. Among theses rewards we hold as examples: “The first price of Al chabiba festival in Algeria” 2001, “The price of the Fheiss festival in Jordan” 2001, in addition to the Old Medal granted by the Iraqi Artists association, and many others.
