Meet the artists who will be at the CRAFT MARKET on FRIDAY MARCH 20 - Today Clarence Williams aka Guilty and Imani

Clarence Williams aka GUILTY is a self taught multidisciplinary artist: from painting, drum making, through jewellery and wood carving. He lives and work in Great Bay where you can visit him and his studio, next his bar-grocery shop (just ask for his shop in the street in Great Bay)

IMANI will have jewellery and home deco for you.

She work in Fort Charles (Treasure Beach) creating jewelry and masks in calabash, mainly in an effort to remind us of the validity of our handed down Adinkra symbols eg. Love, loyalty, unity etc.

Mazola, you was part of The Made in Treasure Beach Festival organization team... Rest in power.

You choose to come to Treasure Beach 3 years ago, following suggestion and invitation of friends. After two years of living and working there, you found your own space, which you named “The Found Object,” and began transforming it into a home and studio, using mainly reclaimed materials. Your place was a reflection of who you are: life and art intertwined, it was overflowing with an incredible diversity of materials that could become art at any moment, it was filled with projects in progress and others already completed.
You were always busy with some creative process, from writing to playing music, from sewing bags to making jewelry or furniture, and of course all forms of visual art, with the possible exception of digital art.

You said that moving to Treasure Beach allowed you to take up painting again, and when you found clay on the “Found Object” site, you embarked on a series of new projects using this material.

You knew Treasure beach well by your daily early morning walks, a form of meditation and reflection. Also a moment where you will spot some materials, some "found object" that you will bring back to the studio.

You also quickly met the artisans, makers and artists from the community, exchanging tools, materials and knowledges.
You involved yourself in the Made In Treasure Beach Festival last April, even if at this time you was doing a residency at Kindred on the rock, on Spanish Town side.
It was important for you to be involved in the community. You gave time for workshop at the primary school, as you did as well in Malvern and for the WARE Project, in Southfield. And these are just few of volunteer works involving art and kids you did.

Your meeting with Cat gave you new energies and perspectives.
The exhibition at Calabash Festival last year was meant to be the first step of the creative partnership between you.

You both had lots of plans for the 3 Little Birds Gallery. You were preparing an exhibition with new furniture, and of course this healing workshop, your way of giving back to the Treasure Beach community after Melissa.

During the few years you spent in TB, as everywhere else you went, you formed bonds with lots of people. I still don't know exactly how you did it, but each person you connected with felt a unique connection, as personal as it was special.

Your humility, your interest and respect for people, your peaceful and deeply smiling nature were for sure some of the ingredients that created this feeling.

This way of being stemmed from your strong spirituality, which was palpable in your daily life and in your art. You shared this spirituality whenever you could in your interactions. For you, there was no separation between the 3 (life, art, and spirituality); you were completely consistent.
You were grateful for everything, for everyone, at all times.
You believed that everything is one, that we are only parts of the whole, that all beings are connected to you, and you to them. This certainly explains also your ability to connect so well with people.
You had sincere confidence and faith that the universe would provide when time is right

And that trust and faith may be what helps us carry on today. That, and the way your children, the three most important people in your life, are carrying on your legacy in these difficult times. That is without doubt an example to us all. Treasure Beach has experienced this with the arrival of Meloddi: same love, peace, and generosity that you give.

For all this, simply thank you...
