As part of Penelope. Her Journeys, Gayle Chong Kwan presented The Lotus Eaters (2026), a performative procession unfolding through Venice on 5 May 2026 at Fondation Valmont, Palazzo Bonvicini.

Beginning within the Palazzo and moving through sites linked to women’s histories in Venice, the work brought together performers in a silent procession exploring memory, hospitality, and resistance through gesture, costume, and transformed domestic objects.

Inspired by the figure of Penelope, The Lotus Eaters reimagines the domestic sphere as a space of strategy, resilience, and subversion, where myth and contemporary experience intersect.
