Thank you to everyone who joined our events curated by Julia Marchand!

From the podcast recording at Mare Karina to the panel talk and DJ set at Studio Venezia, we delved into Marchand’s research into adolescence aesthetics in contemporary visual culture. Moving across social media, feminist cultural studies, artistic practice, performance, and curatorial research, the events reflected on how new feminine ideals shape self-representation, desire, labor, and identity.

At Mare Karina, we presented “The Tradwife Revolution: An Ethnography of Trad Futurism on Social Media” (Routledge, 2026) by Alexandra Deem. Soon, the recording of the event will be published by Projets Media (PROJET𝘚) as part of Marchand’s podcast “Everythingsm”.

At Studio Venezia (.studio), we presented “I Am The F***** Subject” (Lenz Press, 2026) by Marchand, as she hosted the panel talk with Alexandra Deem, Giulia Mariachiara Galiano, and Luca Frati, exploring the figures of the Online Girl and the Tradwife. Following the roundtable, we hosted a DJ set by Lorenzo Mason Studio imagined as the soundtrack of a millennial summer.

At Studio Venezia on Thursday, 25 June, Mare Karina presents “From the Girl Online to the Tradwife”: an event curated by Julia Marchand and Extramentale Venice, centering on the themes of adolescence and digital culture that have shaped Marchand’s recent research and her publication “I Am The F***** Subject: Art & Adolescence” (Lenz Press, 2026).

This June, Mare Karina presents two events curated by Julia Marchand.

First up – please join Julia Marchand and Alexandra Deem at Mare Karina on Saturday, 20 June at 4-5pm for “The Tradwife Revolution”, a live podcast recording event that will be published by Projets Media (PROJET𝘚) as part of Marchand’s podcast series “Everythings” (Spotify link in bio).

The conversation will be focused on Deem’s recent book “The Tradwife Revolution: An Ethnography of Trad Futurism on Social Media” (Routledge, 2026). Proliferating on the social media over the last few years who is the “Trad wife” and what it reveals about gender, aesthetics, and digital culture today? The episode will explore the recent history and possible future of this paradoxical form of femininity.

Julia Marchand (Julia Marchand) is a Venice-based curator and researcher. She recently curated the Georgian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024), is the editor of I Am The F** Subject: Art and Adolescence* (Lenz Press, 2026), served as rapporteur to Prix Marcel Duchamp 2025 winner Xie Lei, and was a curator at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh from 2015 to 2023.

Alexandra Deem (Alexandra) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage at Ca’ Foscari University Venice. Her work sits at the intersection of digital anthropology and feminist cultural studies.

Alongside the production of If All Time Is Eternally Present, Mare Karina developed and coordinated the project’s communication strategy in collaboration with the Pier Luigi Nervi Foundation, the curators and Bottega Veneta.

Our work at Mare Karina included creating the Foundation’s social media content calendar for the exhibition, coordinating press strategy and outreach, developing the press kit, and commissioning the production of press materials. We also managed newsletter communications, developed invitation and contact lists for the public opening, and acted as a liaison between the various teams and partners to present a consistent message across all channels.

It has been rewarding to see the exhibition discussed across magazines, newspapers, digital platforms, university visits and public tours. Here is a shortlist:

Over the past two years, we’ve been working as Production Partner of ‘If All Time Is Eternally Present’, a project commissioned by the Pier Luigi Nervi Foundation and curated by Chiara Carrera and Marta Barina. The exhibition brings together new and existing works by Tai Shani, Kandis Williams, Meriem Bennani and Orian Barki, projected every night onto the façade of Palazzo Nervi Scattolin in Venice.

As production partner, Mare Karina coordinated the project’s development from concept to ex*****on: developing sponsor and stakeholder presentations as well as the Biennale application, leading budget management and financial planning, managing contracts with artists, partners, sponsors, venues and suppliers, and overseeing logistics, insurance, publishing, printing, photography and videography. We also recruited and managed opening-event personnel and services, including cultural mediators, catering, security and first-aid providers, while coordinating the project’s carbon neutrality certification process.

We are proud that, within the institutional framework we worked across, including La Biennale di Venezia, Intesa Sanpaolo, and the Nervi Foundation, and through the sponsorship partnership developed with Bottega Veneta, the exhibition’s independent spirit remained at the heart of the project – making the seemingly impossible possible.

“Through these works, the artist continues her formal analysis of interior motifs derived from various storage systems. The painterly forms are based on photographs taken or found by Rochereau herself. Two diptychs are on display here — the first series is titled The Moment 1 and The Moment 2, and the second Worn Once, Yours Forever 1 and Worn Once, Yours Forever 2. The former is horizontal and the second vertical, both depicting wooden repositories for papers and boxes of varied proportions. The titles of the diptychs suggest a tension between the eternal, the ephemeral and the recurrence.”

Today is the last day of Jure Kastelic wonderful exhibition “Brink” at Bernheim Gallery in London.

The figures in the artists’ latest series of paintings appear as if glimpsed suspended within an idyllic natural landscape. Their gaze never meet the viewer’s eye, remaining suspended between the known and the unknown, and embodying a psychological threshold between safety and risk.
