Spending a few days in Cadore means walking through history. These mountains share an eternal bond with Venice. For centuries, these forests provided the timber to build the foundations of Venice's palaces and the ships for its fleet.

Cadore is also the birthplace of the Renaissance master Titian. The artwork pictured here is located right in his family chapel, inside the church of his hometown, Pieve di Cadore. Fun fact: the artist depicted himself as the worshiper on the left side of the canvas.

These photos capture my days here: ancient trees, Titian's art, and... a delicious pastry from a local bakery to finish (yes, I definitely have a sweet tooth!)!

The young gentleman whose hand we see has just received a letter from his beloved, returning his ring and shattering their promise of love. Her icy heart is symbolized by the lizard — a small, silent witness to the end of a dream.

What captivates me about Lorenzo Lotto is his strikingly modern introspection and his extraordinary range of cool tones — colors that seem to whisper emotions rather than declare them.
