What does a week in Western Sicily look like?

Introducing something new from Spoleto Study Abroad: Western Sicil

For more than three thousand years, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards all left their mark on this island — and rather than erasing one another, they blended into one of the richest places in Europe.

In 2027, we're inviting curious adult travelers to experience it with us. Eight days, two bases — four nights in Palermo, three in Trapani — and time to actually understand what you're seeing, not just photograph it.

✏️ Drawing, painting & photography for high school students

With easels, sketchbooks, and cameras, students will learn to see the same subject through a painter's eye and a photographer's lens, and leave with two portfolios.

Spoleto Study Abroad isn't only for students.

Alongside our student programs, we offer group tours for adults who want to travel deeper: small groups, expert guidance, and time to slow down in the places that shaped Umbria's story.

Our "In the Footsteps of St. Francis" pilgrimage follows the path of one of Italy's most beloved saints through the hill towns, hermitages, and quiet landscapes of Umbria. It's a journey for the curious, the reflective, and anyone who wants to experience Italy beyond the usual itinerary.

You'll be studying alongside high school artists from across the country who all chose this program for the same reason you did: they're genuinely passionate about their craft and ready to improve upon what they already know.

By day three, you're not just classmates. By day seven, you're collaborators and friends. By the end of two weeks, you've formed a creative community. Explore Spoleto together after studio time. Push each other to take risks and try new things.
