Dispari&Dispari Project

Dispari&Dispari Project dispari&dispari provides a platform for emerging as well as established artists interested in developing a new aesthetic language in response to our increasingly instable world of high-speed high-tech globalization.

Zanego by Fabrizio Prevedello

With the Zanego exhibition by Fabrizio Prevedello, curated by Antonio Grulli, dispari&dispari (Berlin / Reggio Emilia) invites you to the inauguration of its new venue for contemporary art events. The location is located in a fraction of the promontory of Monte Marcello in the province of La Spezia, which is called Zanego. In an age-old forest of oaks, olive trees and Aleppo pines overlooking the Gulf of Poets, an ancient tower used for olive processing has been converted into a workshop to offer artists a unique place in which to work and exhibit. The exhibition venue is the forest located in this area and the territory of the natural park of Monte Marcello that surrounds it. There are no walls or visible boundaries. In this project there is the will to promote a reflection on current issues such as our relationship with the landscape and the ecosystem that surrounds us, in a part of Italy that has always been a source from which artists draw for the creation of their own works. For years the artist Fabrizio Prevedello has developed a work related to sculptural and installation research, especially in relation to the territory and the landscape. In particular, many of his works related to the context of the Apuan Alps both as a subject and as a "material" for their realization. For the occasion, he created a series of new installations designed specifically for this place.

ZERO (Weak Fist) is the project by the visual artist Patrick Tuttofuoco selected by the Italian Council 2017 that takes place in Rimini, Berlin and Bologna from September 15th, 2018 to February 17, 2019.

Proposed by the Polo Museale dell’Emilia Romagna with the collaboration of Rimini Town Council, Bologna Academy of Fine Arts, the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin and Xing, it is one of the select few international projects chosen by MIBAC’s General Direction for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries as distinguished for the heterogeneity of the areas and the artistic languages adopted.

ZERO (Weak Fist) is a transiting intervention: a mobile light sculpture designed to be relocate to a series of places in Rimini, Berlin and Bologna. The places chosen for exhibiting the piece in the three different cities are characterised by archaeological and fossil evidence, as if they had remained unchanged over time (formally or ideally): the Roman Augusto Arch of Rimini, the court of the Italian Embassy in Berlin (shared with the Italian Cultural Institute) which is literally the extroflexion of a national space in foreign territory open to hospitality, and the Porta Zamboni/San Donato, access point to the university district of Bologna which has been the place of irradiation of the medieval recovery of Roman law. The sculpture is an object that, while maintaining a melancholic or even disheartened form, highlights the presence, context and role of the architectural surroundings to which it is attached almost in a form of symbiosis. The falling fist may seem a surrender, but it could also be a non-violent negotiation attempt. In sign language, ZERO is expressed by showing the closed hand with the thumb in contact with the tips of the other fingers. Polysemically it connects the gesture of an unarmed doryphoros and the suspended release between tension and relaxation of a semi-open fist allusive of human doing and its vita activa. ZERO (Weak Fist) is an unstable artwork, visible in its medial nature during the night, which uses an allusive symbol that is at the same time joyful and looming, in connection with the different monuments of Rimini, Berlin and Bologna. It is a non-violent gesture nestling between strong architectural forms, signifying the persistence of critical thinking.
