We are pleased to introduce 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙. 𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗔𝗥𝗔 (Rita Cucchiara) and 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗔 𝗕𝗜𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗢𝗖𝗛𝗜 (Cristina Bicciocchi), whose work in academia, leadership and women’s advocacy brings valuable perspectives to this year’s conversation around women, influence and opportunities. 🤝

𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙. 𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗨𝗖𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗔𝗥𝗔, Rector of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘) - the first woman to hold this role in this university’s history, is a distinguished academic and a leading voice in artificial intelligence and technological innovation. Through her work in research, academia and institutional leadership, she has contributed to advancing technology and shaping the future of scientific innovation.

For Rita, scientific excellence and representation go hand in hand: being the first woman to lead UNIMORE is, in itself, a way of opening paths for others to follow.

𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗔 𝗕𝗜𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗢𝗖𝗛𝗜, Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗢 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗔 Magazine, founded more than 30 years ago as a pioneer with a visionary eye on the future, dedicating her work to recognising and celebrating women who make a difference across businesses, cultures, institutions and society. Through Profilo Donna, she has built a platform that brings visibility to female talent, fostering meaningful connections across generations and professional fields.

For Cristina, recognising women’s contributions is only the beginning - creating networks and inspiring others are equally important steps towards a more inclusive future.

This month, IWAM Book Club had the pleasure of hosting a very special evening with Sam Frearson-Tubito, author of Beneath a Borrowed Sky.

It was a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the book, hear more about the stories behind it, and reflect together on themes of home, identity, belonging and the places that shape us.

What made the evening even more meaningful was the openness of the conversation, a reminder of why spaces like IWAM matter so much: stories can spark reflection, create connection and bring people together far beyond the page.

A heartfelt thank you to Sam for sharing her story with us, and to everyone who joined and made the evening so warm, thoughtful and memorable. ❤️

See you in the next chapter.

🎨✨ Creativity, connection & a little bit of magic! ✨🎨

Last Friday, October 2nd, our IWA Modena Creatives Group gathered for the second edition of Meet & Made in Sarah’s lovely art studio — an evening filled with creativity, inspiration, and wonderful company! 💛

With a freestyle theme, everyone was free to bring their own projects, explore new ideas, and simply enjoy making things together. From works in progress to new creative beginnings, it was all about sharing our love for crafts, exchanging inspiration, and taking a little time for ourselves.

Because sometimes, the best part of creating isn’t just what you make — it’s the people you meet along the way. 🫶✨

A big thank you to Sarah creo_by_sarah for welcoming us into her studio and to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special! And thanks theearthycoffeebean for the lovely pictures!

We can’t wait for the next Meet & Made! 💫

MEET OUR SPEAKERS 🌟

We are pleased to introduce 𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗜 (Founder & President) and 𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗚𝗜𝗟𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 Lara Gilmore (Co-Founder & Board Member) of Tortellante , a remarkable social inclusion project born right here in Modena.

Social Entrepreneur & President of “Il Tortellante”, 𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗜 has transformed a deeply personal journey into a powerful vision for inclusion, autonomy and opportunity. Based in Modena, she turned her experience as a mother into a collective mission, building Il Tortellante into a recognised model of inclusion that creates pathways to skills, independence and dignity for young people with autism, while bringing families and generations together.

For 𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗔, meaningful change begins with doing, doing well and doing together and with women coming together to build networks, create possibilities and turn challenges into opportunities.

Creative Leader, Entrepreneur & Co-Founder of Tortellante, 𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗚𝗜𝗟𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 has been at the heart of one of the most influential creative partnerships in contemporary food culture, helping shape the Francescana Family alongside Massimo Bottura. Originally from the USA and based in Modena since 1993, she is known for her boundless creativity and ability to turn ideas into meaningful projects, combining hospitality, food and social impact through initiatives including 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹, 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲.

For Lara, food is much more than what we put on a plate: it can create dignity, connection and opportunity, bringing people together and opening new pathways for inclusion.

Today, Tortellante is a space where young people learn, work, grow in confidence and develop greater independence. Their journey reminds us that sometimes the most meaningful change begins with something close to the heart, and grows into something that can change the lives of so many.

Join us to hear their stories! 🤩
