For the entrance wing, however, the chosen theme is “Depth” and was entirely designed by Irene Costamagna of 4SB. This area focuses more on the dimension of water and the descent into the depths of the sea. The staircase with the main decoration is the central one and was decorated with a multitude of fish inspired by Japanese koinobori, traditional flags that are used to wave in the wind, as if they were swimming in the air, on the occasion of kodomo no hi, or children’s festival, and which represent a wish for physical and spiritual energy, as well as growth and social success. They represent the ideas that arise from the depths of one’s soul and go upstream, transforming into thoughts and actions, to then blossom into splendid water lilies, which decorate the ceiling of the staircase itself. The other stairs in the corridor are decorated with decorative motifs that recall the texture of the aquatic depths and, in the staircase near the assembly hall, a small group decided to dedicate the cracks in the floor to the Spongebob characters, thus giving the pop touch that we always love to include in our works.

In short, “Altitude and Depth” is a project dedicated to the two vital aspects of adolescence: the search for and realization of one’s dreams and the ability to discover oneself through new ideas and thoughts that come from deep within. These two aspects, in our opinion, should be the pillars that support a healthy and serene school, the true climb, for all the students of Greppi High School, towards the realization and discovery of themselves.

We dedicate all of this to them (and to us). 💫🖤🎏

Here another stunning work from my street art group of students of high school, called “Altitude and Depth”.

Before the theme, this year, it is necessary to underline the choice of the walls to paint, the school stairs, a job that, on paper, seemed to be much easier and more convenient than it actually was, but which in the end we carried out with great satisfaction. In reality, beyond our choice of these spaces, we largely decided to listen to the numerous requests that implored us to finally give worthy justice to the prevailing greyness of these structures that, like soulless monsters, towered ominously among the corridors of the school.

So, also for the theme, we focused on the very meaning of the staircase, its two main functions: the ascent and the descent. It came naturally that one of the two wings of the school was dedicated to the concept of ascent, understood literally as a climb to the heavens, and the other to the descent, understood as introspection and depth, a descent into the depths of the sea.

As for the ascent, the theme is “Altitude”. The ladder was designed entirely by student Martina Quadri of 5LB, who was freely inspired by a famous illustration by William Blake “Jacob’s ladder”, literally a hymn to the glory and wealth that rewarded the patience of the famous biblical character. The ladder is presented as a climb to the heavens, which leads from the night to the light of the sun and the morning. Different characters, from the dreamer to the angels, who carry books and scrolls with them, carry gifts of abundance, life and prosperity, represent the stages of life, the joy of the reward for the hard work of the patriarch, and indicate the important stages of life that are conquered with commitment and dedication, as also happens in school, in the constant search for the realization of one’s dreams. The other ladders in the same corridor were decorated with stars on a yellow or blue background, respectively the evening and morning stars.
