Stone Altar & Ambo

We did not finish perfectly.
Not everything went as planned.
But grace met us in the breaking—
in the weight of stone,
in the strain of hands,
in the moments we thought we wouldn’t make it.
This altar stands not as perfection,
but as offering.
What we could not complete,
God received.
And somehow—
it became enough.

Like you, O Lord, may we remain faithful to the end.

There are days the work feels too heavy.
Not just in the body—but deeper.

You measure.
You try to be precise.
And still, something falls short.

Good Friday is not about strength.
It is about remaining.

Remaining when the work is slow.
Remaining when the outcome is uncertain.
Remaining when there is nothing to show but effort.

Christ did not come down from the Cross.
He stayed.

Not to prove anything—
but to love, to the end.

So we stay too.
In the work given to us.
In the limits we cannot escape.
In the offering we barely understand.

> “It is finished.” — John 19:30

Not because it was perfect—
but because it was given completely.

And perhaps that is enough.

Proud Cebuano, Filipino. In the wake of the quake, we saw pain and rubble — but also the beauty of Cebuano, Filipino bayanihan. Like Simon of Cyrene helping Jesus carry the Cross, we too have carried one another: in traffic flowing north, in tons of rice and tankers of water, in overflowing prayers and kind words.

We are One Body in Christ

In these days after the strong quake, we saw roads filled with traffic heading north — not out of escape, but of compassion. Cebuanos moving as one, carrying aid, offering prayers, showing solidarity. This is Station 5 alive: as Simon helped Jesus, so we help one another.

Poor, Joyful, Free — if Francis found heaven in nothing, what chains still bind us?

Lord, You clothed Francis not in gold, but in Your light. Teach us to find wealth in simplicity, as he did.

He touched the wounds of lepers without fear. Grant us courage to love the forgotten and the broken.

He called the sun brother, the moon sister, the earth mother. Open our eyes to see Your glory in all creation.

He bore the Cross upon his flesh, flame of Your love. Ignite in us that same fire of compassion.

He built peace with empty hands and a full heart. May we too become instruments of Your peace.

If one poor man could change the world with love— Lord, what then stops us from doing the same?

Embrace Cebu with your tender care. We pray for comfort to those who suffer, eternal rest for the departed, and strength for those who help. May every hand that lifts another, every tear shed in prayer, and every act of kindness become seeds of hope.
