ناوەندی کوردستان بۆ هونەر و کولتوور، بە هەماهەنگی لەگەڵ ئەرشیفی ژیان، لە ئێستادا کار دەکات بۆ کۆکردنەوە و سکانکردنی بابەتە ئەرشیفییەکان بۆ ئامادەکردنی پەرتووکێکی تایبەت دەربارەی ژنانی کورد.

لە ئەمڕۆوە و بۆ ماوەی یەک مانگ، لە کاتژمێر ١٠ی بەیانی تا ٤ی ئێوارە، دەتوانن سەردانمان بکەن لە خانووەکەمان لە کۆڵانی عارەبان. بەشداربە لەگەڵمان لەم پەرتووکەدا لە ڕێگەی هێنان و تەرخانکردنی وێنە، پارچەی چنراو، نامە، بەڵگەنامە، کتێب و کەلوپەلی تایبەتیی ژنانی ناو ژیانتان، بۆ گێڕانەوەی ئەو چیرۆکانەی تا ئێستا نەبیستراون. ئێمە بە وریاییەوە هەموو بابەتەکان هەر لەوێ سکان و دیجیتاڵ دەکەین، بۆ ئەوەی لە نزیکەوە لەگەڵمان بن لە پڕۆسەی کارکردنەکەماندا و لە هەمان کاتدا چیرۆکەکانی پشتیانمان بۆ باس بکەن.

We are currently scanning and collecting materials for our upcoming book dedicated to the archives of Kurdish women by the Kurdistan Center for Arts and Culture and The Jîyan Archives.

Starting today, for one month, you can visit us in our Araban Alley house from Sunday to Thursday, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Contribute to this book by bringing photographs, textiles, letters, documents, books, and personal items of the women in your lives and their untold stories. We will carefully scan and digitize them with you on site and bring you closer to our process of work, while discussing the stories behind the archives.

Barav Barzani, President and Founder of the Kurdistan Center for Arts and Culture, welcomed the renowned Kurdish composer, artist, songwriter, and archivist, Mezherî Xaliqî.

Mezherî Xaliqî is considered one of the most important figures in Kurdish folk music. Over the years, he has developed a unique approach that keeps Kurdish folklore alive and connected to people. Through his work founding and leading the Kurdish Heritage Institute, he has played a major role in preserving oral histories, musical archives and protecting Kurdistan’s arts and heritage.

At the Kurdistan Center for Arts and Culture, learning from the custodians of our living heritage is a fundamental part of our work and growth. We aim to further preserve their legacies and work together towards our common goals of preservation.⁩⁩

ئەم هەفتەیە، کتێبخانەی کوردی دەرگاکانی بۆکردینەوە تا میوانداریی گفتوگۆیەک بکەین لە نێوان نەوە جیاوازەکان؛باسەکەمان دەربارەی یادەوەری و کاریگەرییە ئاڵۆزەکانی پۆست-کۆلۆنیالیزم بوو لەسەر ناسنامە و گواستنەوەی زانیاری بۆ نەوەکانی داهاتوو. قسەی میوانەکانمان هێندە قووڵ و پڕ مانا بوون، جارێکی تر گرنگیی ئەو بەرپرسیارێتییەیان بیر خستینەوە کە لە بڵاوکردنەوە و ئەرشیفکردنی چیرۆکی ژناندا لەسەر شانمانە. ژنی کورد لە هەموو کایەکاندا — لە سیستەمی ژنسالارییەوە تا هونەر و سیاسەت — هەمیشە هێزی سەرەکی بوون بۆ پاراستنی دابونەریت، زمان و کولتوورەکەمان.

This weekend, the Kurdish Library opened its doors for us to host an intergenerational conversation shaped by memory, the complexities of postcolonial structures of identity-shaping, and the transmission of knowledge moving forward. Our speakers brought nuance and depth that only reinforced the magnitude of responsibility the publication, and the archiving of women’s stories by extension, carries. Kurdish women, in all their complexity, from the matriarchy to arts and politics, remain the driving force behind the preservation of our practices, language, and culture.

On Sunday, the Jiyan Archives team spent the day carefully retrieving archives, scanning them, and collecting the stories behind them — ensuring our work honours the trust placed in us, and the efforts that have gone into safeguarding these tangible memories.

We as Kurdistan center for arts and culture and the Jiyan archives extend our deepest gratitude to all attendees, contributors, and in particular: The Kurdish Library, Bezav Mahmoud, Shinda Ekrem, Chero Eliassi, Ala Riani, Bahar Nori, Novin Hersan, and Sara Nazari.

زەیتی سەر پەڕۆ(کانڤاس)، ٦٠ x ٤٥ سم

ئەمڕۆ لە ڕۆژی جیهانیی هونەردا، هاوکاتە لەگەڵ "چوارشەمما سۆر" کە سەری ساڵی ئێزیدییەکانە. ئەم بەرهەمەی هونەرمەند "خدر قەواڵ" گوزارشت لە نەریتێکی ڕەسەن دەکات کە تێیدا خێزانە ئێزیدییەکان بۆ پێشوازیکردن لە بەهار، دەرگای ماڵەکانیان بە گوڵ دەڕازێننەوە. قەواڵ لەسەر تابلۆکەی دەڵێت: "ئاهەنگگێڕان نێزیک دەبێتەوە و یادەوەرییەکانیش دێنەوە بۆ ئەوەی دەرگاکان بە گوڵی نیسان بڕازێنینەوە."

خدر قەواڵ لە ساڵی ١٩٤٩ لە "باعەدرێ" لەدایکبووە و لە بنەماڵەیەکی ناسراوی "قەواڵ"ەکانە. ڕێڕەوی ژیانی لە ساڵی ١٩٦٩دا گۆڕا، کاتێک بەهۆی بڕیارێکی نادادپەروەرانەی ڕژێمی ئەوکاتەوە ڕێگری لێ کرا ببێتە دادوەر، کۆلێژی یاسای جێهێشت و ڕووی لە کۆلێژی هونەرە جوانەکان لە بەغدا کرد. هەر لەوێش بوو کە خولیای وێنەکێشان لە ناخیدا چەکەرەی کرد و تەواوی ژیانی بۆ بەرجەستەکردنی کولتوورەکەی تەرخان کرد. کارەکانی وەک گەواهیدەر و ڕەنگدانەوەی مێژوو و ناسنامەی ئێزیدییەکان دەمێننەوە.

زۆر سوپاسی هونەرمەند خدر قەواڵ دەکەین بۆ ئەو گفتوگۆ بەپێزەی لەگەڵمانی ساز کرد و دەرفەتی پێ داین لە نزیکەوە ئاشنای کارەکانی ببین. هەروەها دەستخۆشیی لێ دەکەین بۆ دوایین تابلۆی کە گوزارشت لە شادی و ژیانەوەی ئێزیدییەکان دەکات.

Today, World Art Day coincides with Çarşema Sor, the Yazidi New Year. This work by Khidir Kawal captures a living tradition where families gather wildflowers to decorate their doorways, welcoming spring into their homes. As Kawal says: “The celebrations are approaching, and so are the memories of decorating our doors with April flowers.”

Born in 1949 in Ba’edrê, Kawal comes from a lineage of Qawals. His path to the canvas began in 1969 when a decree barred Yazidis from becoming judges, leading him to leave law school for the College of Fine Arts, Baghdad. It was there that he mastered oil painting and dedicated his life to documenting his culture. His work remains an expression of the history and identity of his people.

We sincerely thank Khidir Kawal for the insightful conversation held, his warm reception to us learning more about his practice, and for sharing his latest work depicting joy and renewal for the Yazidi people.

As our hearts weigh heavy with the recent wounds of our homeland, mourning the martyrs and victims lost in these difficult days, we turn once again to the profound words of Şêrko Bêkes.

This grief leads to stronger resolve. Preserving the identity, history, and culture of this land is in honour of the sacrifices of our martyrs and the lives we have lost.

In these verses, Bêkes listens to the soul of nature through the earth, the water, and the trees, only to discover that the heart of all love is Freedom. In times of resistance, poetry holds our pain and our hope, giving shape to what cannot be spoken and reminding us why we persevere.

At the estate and library of Dr. Marif Khaznadar, his family has preserved a rich and valuable collection that reflects a lifetime of thought and work. As part of KCAC’s efforts, a significant portion of this collection has been digitized and is now available within our archive. The Kurdistan Center for Arts and Culture (KCAC) team visited the estate and private library of the late Kurdish intellectual Marif Khaznadar. The visit took place at his residence, where the team was warmly received by his family, who shared invaluable insights into his life, work, and intellectual practice.

During the visit, the team explored the extensive archive and rich legacy preserved within the estate, which has been tirelessly maintained by his family over the years. Our founder, Mr. Barav Barzani, was given a special tour of the private library, offering a closer look at the significance and depth of Dr. Khaznadar’s collection.

Over the past several months, the Center has been actively working to preserve this collection through a dedicated digitization initiative, which remains ongoing. The visit further underscored the importance of collaboration with families and estates in safeguarding cultural heritage.
