The Tradition is carried on since years as an act of devotion to the goddess... The festival Navratri dedicated to the worship of Hindu divinity Durga. The meaning of word ‘Nava’ is nine and ‘ratri’ is nights. During these nights, nine forms of Devi are worshipped. The tenth day is referred to ‘Vijayadashami’ or ‘Dussehra’. It is an important major festival and is celebrated all over India. The fe

stival Diwali is celebrated twenty days after Dasara. Every year the festival is celebrated for nine nights. The festival may be held for a day more or a day less. The festival Navratri is celebrated four times a year. They are Vasanta Navratri, Ashadha, Sharad and Paush/ Magha Navratri. From four of these two is most important; they are Sharad and Vasanta Navratri. In south India, Goddess Durga is worshiped during three days, Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped during the next three days and Goddess Saraswati is worshiped during the last three days. -
