Director School Education Kashmir Unveils Sahibo Az Walo Sonye

Majid Ganaie ۔۔Srinagar, Aug 3: Sahibo Az Walo Sonye, a book on the rich tradition of Kashmiri Rouf and Wanwun authored by educationist, researcher and Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary Institute, Kothibagh, Dr. Sameena Wani, was formally released at a literary function organised by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with the School Education Department at GGHSS Kothibagh, Srinagar.
The book was unveiled by Director School Education Kashmir, Mr. Naseer Ahmad Wani, in the presence of eminent academicians, writers, artists and educationists. The function was attended by Prof. Shad Ramzan, Convener, Sahitya Academy and Head, Department of Kashmiri, Central University of Kashmir; Prof. Naseem Shifai, eminent literary personality and former Head, Department of Kashmiri; Ms. Rafiya Masood, Patron, Adbi Markaz Kamraz and former Director General, Doordarshan; Prof. Nelofar Naz Nehvi, poet and author; Ms. Rukhsana Jabeen, poet and former Station Director, All India Radio; Dr. Mohd. Iqbal Mir, Personal Officer, Directorate of School Education; and Mr. Mohd. Amin Bhat, President, Adbi Markaz Kamraz, among others.
The speakers described the publication as a significant contribution to preserving Kashmir's folk traditions and emphasized the importance of documenting and promoting the region's linguistic and cultural heritage for future generations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sameena Wani said the book is the outcome of years of research and documentation of Kashmiri oral traditions. She also highlighted that the book is dedicated to the transgender community of Kashmir in recognition of their place in the region's shared cultural heritage.
The event was attended by officers of the School Education Department, principals, teachers, students, writers, poets and literature enthusiasts, who appreciated the initiative as a meaningful contribution to the preservation of Kashmir's cultural legacy.

Baramulla, July 25: A road accident occurred on the Baramulla–Handwara road near Nadihal ladoora on Saturday after a Sumo vehicle and a tipper reportedly plunged into a deep gorge under circumstances that are yet to be officially confirmed.
According to initial reports, several people sustained injuries in the accident. Soon after the incident, local residents, police, and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. *Summer Vacation Extended For Schools In Kashmir, Winter Zones Of Jammu Till July 26*

*Schools to reopen on July 27*

Srinagar, July 21 (GNS): The summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zones of Jammu Division has been extended up to July 26, 2026, officials said on Monday.

Citing the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families as the foremost priority, the order stated that schools will now reopen on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Authorities have urged parents, students and staff to stay safe, remain vigilant and follow advisories issued by the concerned departments in view of the prevailing weather conditions. (GNS)
