[Comment 'Love' to get details and registration in your inbox] [Online attendance available]

Our Classroom sessions are back! This time, it's 2 hours interactive lecture and discussion on 'Romantic Love in Hindi Cinema: Past and Present'. Join us for a deep dive guided by Dr. Aarti Wani, Professor of English (retd), former Head of the Department of English at Symbiosis, and founding co-editor and currently the lead editor of the international peer-reviewed journal 'Studies in South Asian Film and Media'.

Her writings on cinema and literature have featured in Film International, Economic and Political Weekly, South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies, Journal of Feminist Scholarship, etc., and in edited volumes. Her book, 'The Fantasy of Modernity: Romantic Love in Bombay Cinema of the 1950s' (2016) has been published by the Cambridge University Press.

The session will be held on the 7th floor of CC&Co. (Premium Co-working Spaces), a quiet refuge for all things art and culture on a terrace.

'Tuka Mhane #2' was an evening of poetry and philosophy. We got to address a larger audience, one that brought incisive queries, insights, and critiques. Not only did the session leap across various aspects of Tukoba's life, faith, and perspectives, it also became one of self-reflection. We learnt from our attendees the various ways in which 'Tuka Mhane' could be approached better, and directions where it could be taken. A big thank you to all who attended both online and offline (we forgot to take the screenshot for the online class!).

This entire session would have been impossible without our host venue — CoCreators and Company (Premium Co-working Spaces), with their generous space and a beautiful view of the city.

From stories, poetry recitations, to karaoke, it was a gentle Sunday morning of community. Here's to more! The 12th iteration of Bookmarked is coming up this Sunday, but first, forgive us for taking an eternity to post about the last one!
To be completely honest, the details of this session have blurred around the edges. It’s been an eternity, and we won’t even try to pretend this post isn’t fashionably late.
We swung between ends of the spectrum that day. From deep, quiet spirituality to practical self-help, and from the wild imagination of fiction to the grounding weight of non-fiction. We had everything on the rug.
That is the magic of Baithak Bookmarked.
​We miss that afternoon endlessly, but more than anything, we are just so grateful that it happened.
A massive, heartfelt thank you to every single soul who showed up, opened their hearts, and shared their world with us that day. You made it unforgettable. Consider this a sincere, affectionate plea: please come back soon. We need more mornings like this.

July's was a special special baithak. On this exact date, we'd held a Baithak last year, too. A day of poetry, camaraderie, coffee and chai, with conversations and critiques flowing throughout, made special by the fact of Kitabi Chai's 8th birthday! Heartiest congratulations to kitabichai cafe & Book Store for having completed 8 years of community and culture, and a big thank you for being such a sweet, generous host every time we come.

After a tremendous response to our first session's recap, we are back again with 'Tuka Mhane' #2! We dive deep once again into Sant Tukaram's abhangas, philosophy, and life, this time at CC&Co., Prabhat Road.

Seats are limited, so don't delay in registering and saving yours at the earliest! We had to turn down a few last minute registrations last time because we were already full.
