The 50-day presentation-oriented acting workshop concluded successfully and ceremoniously. On this occasion, artists regularly associated with Dastak Theatre and the actors who participated in the workshop came together for a warm and heartfelt gathering. All the theatre practitioners assembled together, where they enjoyed delicious food and tea at Pappu Chaiwala while engaging in pleasant and meaningful conversations. Thereafter, everyone enjoyed a film screening at Regent, followed by detailed discussions regarding future theatre plans and activities.
The regular artists of Dastak played the role of hosts, while the artists associated with the workshop attended as guests. The dignified presence of nearly 50 theatre practitioners truly filled the atmosphere of Dastak and House of Variety with liveliness and vibrant energy today.
It is a matter of immense honor and satisfaction for us that so many sensitive, hardworking, and dedicated individuals committed to theatre came together on one platform. The credit for making this entire event meaningful undoubtedly goes to all the members, well-wishers, audiences, and supporters of Dastak and House of Variety.
May your affection, respect, and trust continue to remain with us. We shall continue our efforts with complete dedication to make theatre dignified, meaningful, and socially relevant in the future as well.
In its essential nature, theatre is not merely a form of festivity or celebration; rather, it is a center of political, social, cultural, and moral education, and therein lies its true significance. Of course, it is another matter whether through our theatrical practices we are making it better or worsening it further. After all, theatre is an artistic medium through which we, as theatre practitioners and theatre lovers, can elevate cultural consciousnessтАФor degrade it. The responsibility of determining this lies with us, because theatre itself is merely a tool that does not determine anything on its own. Moreover, every form of celebration carries some social concern or public relevance within it; a celebration solely for the sake of celebration holds no real meaning.
