Nature's abundance is a magic wand for survival of all of us and providing energy is no different. I think there is a urgent need to relook at the national energy planning where we need to create the framework depending on the nation's access to different renewable resources. This could then be complemented with the conventional sources to meet the demand of the various categories of consumers. I am happy to get into a more detailed conversation on this thought.

Now Hydro power sector as a whole will be recognised as a renewable resources. It is a long overdue recognition which is going to be a major incentive to finally leverage India's vast potential.

With the announcement of the Draft ammendments to the Electricity Act, there is a talk going on on creating a National RE policy. This will also address all the large hydropower plant s. This is a very innovative step that has the potential to eych a different RE regime.
