The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is India's leading national trade body, representing the interests of traders, retailers and small businesses across the country since 1990. Headquartered at Vyapar Bhawan, New Delhi, CAIT operates through a three-tier structure spanning National, Regional and State levels, with a National Governing Council of nearly 100 trade leaders and active chapte
rs across all major states. Founded to address the everyday challenges faced by Indian traders, including outdated colonial era laws, multiple overlapping regulations and a lack of unified representation, CAIT has grown into the strongest voice of the trading community at the national level. The organisation works closely with the Government of India and State Governments on policy matters affecting trade, retail and commerce, including GST implementation, FDI in retail and e-commerce, the National Retail Trade Policy and simplification of tax laws. CAIT's independent research arm, the CAIT Research & Trade Development Society, conducts ongoing research on issues concerning Indian trade and the broader economy.
