I don’t know much about art.

And maybe that’s exactly why this conversation was so interesting for me.

Our 3rd event in the series with Evolve Artisanal and Essajees Atelier brought together Laila Malpani and Tanvi Kulkarni for a conversation around the power of art and I found myself learning throughout the evening.

One thing I love about moderating panels is that you can’t just turn up and ask random questions.

I spend time researching the people, understanding the subject, thinking about what the audience would actually want to know, and then trying to create questions that take the conversation somewhere interesting.

And honestly, sometimes I’m the one learning the most while asking them.

We spoke about the value of art, investing in art, and how interior designers bring art into a space without overdoing it or overspending.

We went deeper into the design process, setting boundaries with clients, managing expectations and navigating that fine balance between keeping a client happy and still standing by your professional point of view.

Both Laila Malpani Design and Tanvi Kulshreshtha have been in the industry for 15+ years, so hearing about what they’ve actually experienced not just what sounds good on paper made the conversation even more valuable.

And I think this is also why telling stories about inspiring women is my thing.

There’s something incredibly powerful about sitting across from women who have spent years building, creating, learning and finding their own voice in an industry and giving them a space to share what they’ve learnt along the way.

That’s what I love about creating these industry-specific conversations.

And there’s always something to take away when you put the right people in a room and have a real conversation. Thank you Evolve Artisanal Krishika Shah your space is fantastic!

I’ve had so many founders tell me, “I need PR.” & I work with fantastic PR companies every single day.

And when I ask why, the answer is usually:
“I want more articles. I want more visibility.”

But I think we’ve become a little too obsessed with PR without really understanding what good PR is supposed to do for a brand.

- It’s not about getting 100 articles. It’s about getting your brand in the right places, in front of the right people.

- When choosing a PR partner, I’d look at whether they actually understand your category and your brand.

- Can they find the story in what you’re building? Can they create interesting collaborations, introductions, experiences and opportunities not just send press releases?

- And please, be patient. PR is a long game. Give people time to understand your brand, build relationships and create momentum. Three weeks or one month is rarely enough to judge that.

- Also, cheaper doesn’t automatically mean better. And expensive doesn’t automatically mean better either.

The right PR partner is the one who understands your brand, protects your credibility and thinks beyond the next article. 🙌

I’ve had this conversation with so many small business owners:

“I want to work with influencers. But who should I actually choose?”

And the first thing they usually tell me is the follower count.

“She’s got 200K.”
“He has 100K.”
“She’s really popular.”
And I always ask - okay, but are those 100,000 people your customers?

Because influencer marketing has changed.

For a small business, You’d much rather work with someone who has 15,000 people who actually listen to them, than someone with 200,000 people who scroll past.

Before you spend the money, look at four things:

- Who is their audience?
- Do people actually engage with them?
- Do they have credibility in what they talk about?
- And can your brand naturally fit into their content?

Because the goal isn’t to get an influencer to post your product. The goal is to get the right person to introduce your product to the right people.

And honestly, that’s where I think small businesses can get influencer marketing really right.

I had this conversation with a 1:1 client recently.
He wanted to grow his business and had identified something he genuinely needed to invest in.
It was ₹10,000.

He said, “I just don’t know if I should spend it.”
So I asked her :

“If I told you this would definitely make you ₹20,000, would you spend the ₹10,000?”
“Of course.”
Then I asked:
“So is the problem really the money?”
Silence.
It wasn’t.
It was the fear of spending ₹10,000 and not knowing whether it would work.

And I see this ALL the time with founders.
We don’t hesitate to spend money on things we can immediately enjoy.

But when it comes to our businesses, suddenly every ₹10,000 needs a 47-slide justification.

And I’m not saying spend blindly.
Please don’t.
I’m saying learn to separate a bad expense from an uncomfortable investment.

Ask yourself:
Will this save me time?
Will it help me learn something?
Will it bring me closer to a customer?
Will it improve the business?
What’s the cost of NOT doing it?

Because sometimes the most expensive decision you make as a founder... is waiting too long to invest in yourself or your business.

The ₹10,000 hesitation is rarely about ₹10,000.
It’s about fear.

I know nothing about investing in art, business growth or preserving textiles… but does that stop me from hosting a panel? Absolutely not. 😂

I had the most wonderful women join me for a conversation around things we’re all curious about investing in art, growing businesses, and preserving India’s beautiful textile heritage.

And what a setting. Abode Bombay was the perfect space for an intimate community gathering.

So grateful to Monica Shah , Sarah Sham and Erin Isenberg for bringing their knowledge, stories and perspectives to the room.

The questions, the conversations and the energy were just wonderful.

Biggest thank you to Fatima Sham Mahimwala

Honestly, this is exactly why I love bringing our community together. 🤍

There’s something I’ve been thinking about after a recent 1:1 coaching journey.

We started with what looked like a marketing problem.
“How do I get more visible?”
“Why isn’t this campaign working?”
“Why am I posting consistently and still not seeing the results I want?”

But somewhere along the way, we realised the problem wasn’t really marketing.

It was mindset.
The expectation that every post needs to work. Every campaign needs to convert. Every effort needs to immediately show a result.

And honestly, that’s not how building a business works. Marketing isn’t something you do when you have the time. It’s something you keep doing because you’re building something that needs to be remembered.

You show up when you’re busy.
You show up when the post doesn’t go viral.
You show up when the enquiry hasn’t come yet.
You show up when nobody is clapping.

Because consistency compounds.
The biggest shift in this coaching journey wasn’t a new marketing tactic. It was watching someone stop questioning every little result and start trusting the process.

And that, for me, is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching. Sometimes people don’t need more strategies.
They need a different way of looking at what they’re already doing. 🙌

Over time, I’ve realised something about working with founders most of us don’t actually need more information.

We’re already carrying so much of it.
Ideas, plans, content, feedback, numbers, opinions… sometimes there’s just too much noise to hear your own thinking.

And that’s really why I started doing 1:1 coaching.

I wanted to create a little space where a founder could step away from the everyday chaos of running a business, look at things with fresh eyes, and have an honest conversation about what’s actually working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.

It’s not about giving you another giant strategy document or telling you to “post more reels.”

It’s about one focused week, one-on-one, asking the right questions and finding the clarity that was probably already inside you.

Sometimes, you don’t need someone to show you the way. You just need someone to help you see it clearly.

We hosted a speed networking evening, and honestly, it was such a delight to see the room come alive.
So many different people, stories, businesses and personalities all coming together, putting themselves out there and simply starting conversations.

A little reminder: you never know which conversation could lead to your next opportunity, friendship or big idea. Sometimes, all it takes is showing up and saying hello. 🤍

Somewhere between the conversations, introductions, laughter and “you have to meet this person” moments a community comes alive.

That’s what The Wedding Collective means to me.
Not just bringing people into a room, but bringing the right people together & good conversations!

I hosted a panel with Gavin Dharana at Shillim Dr Rashmi Shetty | Dermatologist Nicole Linhares Kedia | Sports Nutrition & Health Coach | and I really enjoyed chatting with them on all things wellness & growth in the industry ..

Networking isn’t about collecting contacts. It’s about finding your people.

The right room can change a conversation, a referral, or sometimes even your whole business.

No fluff. Just real people, real conversations and a community that actually shows up.
