What’s the first visual that comes to mind when you hear deadmau5? His Mau5head, right? It is more than just a fashion statement—it's a symbol of his identity.
This fortnight in our Feature story on www.musicunplugged.in we dive into what makes the deadmau5 the quintessential Mau5head. The artist who performed on 12th July, 2024 in Mumbai gave an electrifying evening filled with ground-breaking music and spectacular visuals.
Other than that, in our CD Review, we also pull out 'Rated R' an album by saucy Barbados native Rihanna, who once gave us mega hits like 'Disturbia', 'Pon De Replay' and 'Umbrella'. The twelve and a half R& B – pop tracks are not the dance type for those looking for her trademark work which she is known for, rather we have an album that has some of her good work that you just cannot ignore.
Our DVD Review packs a punch with 'The Beatles from Liverpool to San Francisco', a black and white documentary that explores the rise of the world’s most famous band, from their humble beginnings in Liverpool and faltering performances at the Cavern Club, to the group becoming the most famous band in history. This is awesome stuff for Beatles historians out there.
At 71, Padma Shri awardee Remo Fernandes known for several breakout hits in the country rocked the house at the St Andrews auditorium, Bandra, with his band The Microwave Papadums on 15th August 2024, when the Goan rocker performed in aid of Kripa Foundation’s 43rd anniversary. In an exclusive interview prior to his performance, we chatted with the singer on his love affair with his home state Goa, life in Portugal, his tryst with Bollywood, Mother Teresa, and of course his music.
In our Vinyl Review, we have "Time Pieces", a single-disc collection of Eric Clapton's solo hits and includes hits like 'I Shot the Sheriff', 'After Midnight', 'Wonderful Tonight', his collaboration with Derek and the Dominos on Layla, and Co***ne (Live). The compilation provides a good introduction for neophyte Clapton fans, especially those who just want copies of his '70s hits.
Lastly in our Concert Review, music journalist Parag Kamani attends a concert of Chennai-based Amrit Ramnath and his band at the Jio World Centre, BKC, Mumbai, on 22nd August, 2024 and gives his feedback on Ramnath's performance in his review titled, 'Digging deEP into Amrit Ramnath’s 100,000 dreams'.
