Chai Coffi directed by Sanjoli Malani is about Lata, a 60 year old homemaker. After her husband’s demise, Lata embarks on a solo trip to a tea estate in Kerala, leaving the comforts of her village behind for the first time ever. The film follows her extraordinary adventure as she navigates feelings of wonder, grief and surprises. The film takes a turn when she meets 12 year old Mira who is carefree, independent and lives life to the fullest. Chai-Coffi is a heartwarming tale that weaves together themes of friendship, loss, courage and self discovery.

Sanjoli Malani is a filmmaker from Mumbai, India, and a recent MA Filmmaking graduate (with distinction) from London Film School. Her passion for storytelling began at a young age, driving her to pursue a career in film. With a deep affinity for comedy and slice-of-life narratives, Sanjoli brings a unique perspective to her work. Over the years she has worked extensively both in India & UK, she has taken on multidisciplinary roles across production, directing, and lighting—an experience that has enriched her visual storytelling. As she transitions towards long-format filmmaking, she aims to strike a balance between commercial and independent cinema. When she’s not making films, you’ll likely find her experimenting in the kitchen, blending creativity in both storytelling and cooking.
