ECE Department Organized a seminar for the B.Tech 6th and 8th semester students. The event was organized by Prof. Sharad Sharma and Prof. Vikas Mittal. The seminar was delivered by Er. Mangal Kakkar, on Python programming language & its Applications. He discussed about the importance of Python programming in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He also added the importance of python language in Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Engineers’ Day is celebrated on September 15 every year since 1967, in order to commemorate the birth anniversary of one of the greatest engineers of India, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya. In 1912, Dr. MV was appointed as Deewan of Mysore. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his contribution towards Nation Building. By drawing inspiration from his contribution towards nation and his prolific personality one can inculcate his values and ethics in his life. In order to honour his achievements and contributions towards the country, ECE Department, M.M.E.C organized Engineer’s Day in association with MSME Govt. of India, Karnal; Punjab National Bank, Ambala; and DIC Ambala. Dr. Ashok Kumar Arora, Pro- Vice Chancellor and Director MMEC, welcomed the members from MSME, DIC and PNB. While addressing the students, Mr. Sunil Kumar Ji, familiarized students with different MSME schemes for funding the small enterprises/to setup new business ventures. Dr. Naresh Singla Ji, Lead District Manager, PNB, Ambala motivated students with his encouraging live example. Dr. Sharad Sharma, Prof. & Head, ECE Department thanked all the guests, members of organizing committee and students for making this event a grand success.
On this occasion, the budding engineers and students from Life sciences, had displayed 36 projects and shared their project ideas with Dr. Naresh Singla, LDM PNB Ambala, and Mr. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Director, MSME Karnal, Ms. Vijay Laxmi, Jt. Director, DIC, Ambala. The exhibition was held at three different venues (i) Reading room , Old Engineering Block-I; (ii) Bosch Center of Excellence; (iii) Seminar Hall, New Engineering Block-II. Also, the performance of their projects was judged on the basis of different judgment criteria. All the students of engineering and Life sciences visited the exhibition and were inspired by the innovative ideas and skills of students.

The Founder’s day is celebrated every year on the occasion of birth anniversary of our great visionary and founder of M. M. (deemed to be University) Shri Tarsem Kumar Garg Ji. The department of ECE also celebrated Founder’s day with a great zeal and enthusiasm to honour Hon’ble Chancellor Sir. On this occasion, the department organized technical (Sudoku) cm fun activities (Dumb Charades) for students of ECE. Out of eight teams in Sudoku, three were declared winners. The teams were judged on the basis of minimum time taken with correct answers. In the fun activity the students enjoyed playing Dumb Charades. In the end, Dr. Sharad Sharma, Head ECE Department motivated the students to adopt the vision and values of our Hon’ble Chancellor Sir in their lives to become a good human being.

The Avalanche Society of ECE department has celebrated Republic Day on 25th January 2018 by organising a Poster Making competition in a department. Around 16 students of ECE and Electrical Engineering department had participated in the event. Amit Chaturvedi of ECE, 3rd year won 1st prize, Manpreet Kaur of ECE 3rd year, won 2nd prize and Pardeep Kumar of ECE, 3rd Year won 3rd Prize in the competition. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Pro Vice Chancellor MMU and Dr. Parvinder Kaur, HOD ECE & EE, awarded prizes and certificates to the students and encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities enthusiastically for overall personality development of the students. The Avalanche Society of ECE department had celebrated Basant Panchmi by organising a Rangoli competition in a department. Around 26 students of of ECE, CSE and EE department had participated in the event. A team of Jaspreet and Chakshu of CSE, 1st year won 1st prize, a team of Abhishek Tiwari and Sunil of EE, 2nd year won 2nd prize and a team of Naman Tanwar and Manpreeet Kaur of ECE, 3rd Year won 3rd Prize in the competition. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Pro Vice Chancellor MMU and Dr. Parvinder Kaur, HOD, ECE awarded prizes and certificates to the students and encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities enthusiastically for overall personality development of the students. A one day workshop was organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 22nd Dec. 2017, Friday. The workshop was conducted by senior mentors of VLabs from IIT Delhi. The resource persons were Mr. Pratik Sharma, Mr. Ashish Mudgil and Mr. Ashish Ranjan. 22 Faculty members from Engineering/Science Department had attended the workshop and gained hands on experience in various domains of engineering laboratories. Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in collaboration with Texas Instruments (TI) India and DrishTI (an initiative by Texas Instruments (TI) India University Program) organized an online contest for the student of ECE/EE at Texas Instruments (TI) Center of Excellence, MMEC, MMU on 20th December, 2017. 58 students from ECE/EE have participated in the contest. The contest was comprised of objective type questions based on embedded systems. Participation & Merit Certificates from Texas Instruments has been issued to all the participants.
Dr. Sharad Sharma (Electronics & Communication Engg.), Er. Yogesh Nagru (Electrical Engg.) from MMU, Mullana and Ms. Jyoti Baswal from Texas Instruments coordinated the contest.
Manpreet Kaur and Nurul Azim Rehman are the winners of the contest. Texas Instruments (TI) India will give away the prizes to the winners.

Department of Electronics And Communication Engineering of MMEC organized a 2 days workshop on “ LabVIEW Programming and interfacing with myDAQ and myRIO” from 4th Dec. to 5th Dec. 2017. This two days workshop as divided into six different sessions. The aim of the workshop was to understand various tools and applications of NI LabVIEW, the graphical development environment. The faculty of various departments had attended this course.
The course was designed to cover these objectives:
•Understand front panels, block diagrams, icons, and connector panes.
•Use built-in LabVIEW functions like For loop, While loop, Structures, Arrays, Clusture and Strings.
•Create applications that communicate with myDAQ and myRIO devices.
•Use LabVIEW to create projects.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, MMEC, organized One day workshop on the topic “Embedded System Design” for the students of 4th Year, 3rd year and 2nd Year (ECE ) on 09th Oct., 2017. This workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Parvinder Kaur, HOD (ECE) and Er. Vikas Mittal, Assoc. Prof. (ECE). The speaker Er. Nitish from DUCAT, sector-16, Noida elaborated the importance of Embedded Systems in the industries. During the workshop, he explained the vision of Indian government, to increase Production with Quality in Industries with the help of Embedded Systems. In Present times, Embedded Systems has found immediate application in telecommunications, defense instruments, consumer electronics, electronics payments and smart cards industries. He also provided practical hands-on experience with “Microcontroller based hardware interfacing” to the students.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, MMEC, organized workshop on “Advances in Wireless and Optical Fiber Communication” for the students of 4th year and 3rd Year (ECE) on 04th Oct., 2017. Er. Taranjeet and Er. Manish from Telcocrats Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Chandigarh elaborated the importance of Wireless and Optical Fiber Communication. The aim of this workshop was to discuss uses and implementation of advanced technologies in the field of wireless and optical fiber Communication industries. They had provided interactive learning experience, practical hands-on experience with advanced optical fiber communication systems to the students.

One day workshop on “Basic Electronics & Circuit Designing” on 19th August 2017
A one day workshop was organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering on “Basic Electronics & Circuit Designing” on 19th August 2017, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The workshop was especially designed by Er. Indu Bala, Associate Professor, ECE for first year students to familiarize them with basic electronics components and their applications. It was started with the brief introductory session on electronics components, electronics test equipments and component testing etc. Around 30 students of 1st year have participated in the workshop and gained hand on experience on circuit designing and testing. The workshop was concluded with certificate distribution ceremony by Dr. Parvinder Kaur, HOD ECE. Keeping in view, the enthusiastic response from students, she assured students that the department will keep organizing such workshops in future also.
