২৮শে আগষ্ট ২০২৩ সালে প্রেসিডেন্সির ছাত্রছাত্রীরা পুনরায় প্রেসিডেন্সির বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে চত্বরে থিয়েটারের নিয়মিত চর্চা ফিরিয়ে আনার জন্য তুরুপ নামে এই দলের সূচনা করে। আজ দুইবছর যাবত আমাদের সেই তুরুপ আস্তে ধীরে কখনও নিয়মিত বা কখনও অনিয়মিত ভাবে থিয়েটার চর্চা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভিতরে। আমরা বিগত দুই বছরে বেশ কয়েকটি নাট্য মেলায় অংশগ্রহণ করেছি, একই সাথে নাট্য বিষয়ক আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করেছি, নিজেদের মৌলিক নাটক উপস্থাপন করতে পেরেছি, এবং বেশি কিছু কর্মশালা সহ নাট্য প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন ও করতে পেরেছি। এবছর আমাদের দলের প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবস পালন করার জন্য তাই আমরা বেছে নিয়েছিলাম একটি কর্মশালা সহ এমন একটি নাট্য প্রদর্শনীর অনুষ্ঠান যেখানে বেশ কিছু দিন পর আবার সারা প্রেসিডেন্সির ছাত্রছাত্রীরা একজোট হয়ে গোটা একটি দিন জুড়ে নাট্য চর্চায় নিযুক্ত থাকতে পারে।
তারিখের সামান্য কিছু জটিলতার কারণে ৬ দিন আগে আমাদের এই প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবস উদযাপন করতে হয়েছে, তাই গত ২২শে আগষ্ট বাংলা এবং পারফর্মিং আর্টস বিভাগের সহযোগিতায় আমরা লাকিজি গুপ্তার সাথে একটি ৩ ঘণ্টা ব্যাপী কর্মশালা এবং ২ ঘণ্টার একটি অসামান্য নাট্য প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন করেছিলাম। যেখানে ১৫ বছর ধরে চলে আসা, ৫০ লক্ষ+ মানুষের থেকে ভালোবাসা পাওয়া নাটক "মা মুঝে টেগর বানা দে" এর ১৭০৫ তম মঞ্চায়ন সফল হয়েছিল। ছাত্র ছাত্রী সহ, অধ্যাপকমন্ডলী, এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অন্যান্য কর্মীবৃন্দ সকলেই এইদিন এই নাটক দেখে অভিভূত ছিলেন। শুধু তাই নয়, লাকিজীর মতন একজন অভিনেতার সঙ্গে সময় কাটিয়ে, অভিনেতার জীবন বোধ এবং মূল্যবোধের যে গভীর পাঠ এইদিন কর্মশালায় আমরা পেয়েছি তা পরবর্তী ক্ষেত্রে আমাদেরকে আরো মজবুত আকারে গড়ে তুলবে বলেই আমাদের বিশ্বাস।
শুভ জন্মদিন তুরুপ।
On 28th August 2023, the students of Presidency revived the practice of regular theatre on campus by forming a group named Turup. Over the past two years, Turup has continued to nurture theatre within the university. In these two years, we have participated in several theatre festivals, organized discussion sessions on theatre, staged our own original plays, and even conducted multiple workshops alongside theatre performances.
This year, to celebrate our foundation day, we decided to host a workshop and a performance that would once again bring the students of Presidency together, engaging in a full day dedicated to theatre practice.
Due to a slight shift in schedule, we had to celebrate our foundation day six days earlier. Thus, on 22nd August, with the support of the Department of Bengali and the Department of Performing Arts, we organized a 3-hour workshop and a 2-hour theatre performance in collaboration with Lukyjee Gupta. On this day, the 1705th staging of his celebrated play Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana De, a production that has been running for 15 years and has touched the hearts of over 5 million people, was successfully performed. Students, faculty, and staff of the university were all deeply moved by the performance.
More than that, spending time with an actor like Lukyjee and receiving his profound lessons on the philosophy and values of an actor’s life during the workshop has left us enriched. We firmly believe that this experience will help shape us into stronger practitioners in the days to come.
