✝️ First Friday Devotion to Sacred Heart.

The First Friday Devotion is a beloved practice in the Catholic Church dedicated to honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ—a symbol of His infinite love and mercy for humanity.

🕊️ What Is the First Friday Devotion?

The devotion consists of receiving Holy Communion on the first Friday of each month for nine consecutive months, offered in reparation for sins against the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This practice was inspired by the private revelations given to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century.

❤️ The 12 Promises of the Sacred Heart

Jesus Christ made several promises to those devoted to His Sacred Heart. Among the most well-known:

I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life

I will establish peace in their homes

I will comfort them in all their afflictions

I will be their secure refuge during life and, above all, in death

I will bless every place where an image of My Heart is exposed and honored

I will grant priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts

Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart

I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance

1. Go to Confession (within a reasonable time before the First Friday)

2. Attend Holy Mass on the First Friday

3. Receive Holy Communion worthily

4. Offer your Communion in reparation to the Sacred Heart

5. Repeat for 9 consecutive months

Loving God in Good Times and Bad.

It’s easy to “love” God when all is well. But when all is well, our love is not tested. The testing that comes from human suffering clarifies our love of God. This can be very fruitful for our spiritual lives. It’s easy to believe that difficulties in life are nothing other than sad and unfortunate burdens and should be avoided at all costs. Though we would be foolish to create difficulties intentionally, we will each have our share of them in this life. Therefore, every difficulty and suffering in life must be embraced as an opportunity for you to increase your trust in God and, in so doing, to increase your love of Him. How blessed is the soul who suffers greatly in this life while choosing to love God throughout, making that suffering the source of its increase in holiness. Diary 1014.

What do you complain about each day? What is it that burdens you? Too often we run from these burdens or get angry. Try to look at your struggles in a new light. Try to see them as opportunities to deepen your trust and your love. Every suffering and every burden in life has the potential of being infused with the spiritual power of the Cross. By embracing them in love, we embrace the Cross. And by embracing the Cross, we love God all the more. Do not think that hardships deal you a poor quality of life. Recognize them for what they are as a result of grace. They are opportunities for holiness and for an increase in the reception of the Mercy of God.

Lord, when I get down, angry or despairing in life, on account of the difficulties I endure, help me to use that struggle as an opportunity for greater trust. Lord, I desire to run to the Cross and to receive the love that poured forth from Your Cross so that I may become more like You in all things. Increase my love, dear Lord, especially through every suffering in life that I surrender to You. Jesus, I trust in You.

Prayer of Complete Surrender to God

Heavenly Father,

Into Your loving hands I place my life, my heart, my family, my future, and every burden I carry.

I surrender my fears, my plans, my successes, and my failures to Your holy will. Remove from me everything that keeps me from You, and fill me with trust, peace, and unwavering faith.

Teach me to accept Your will in all things, knowing that Your plans are always greater than my own. Strengthen me to follow You with a humble and obedient heart, no matter where You lead me.

I belong entirely to You, Father. Guide me, protect me, and use my life for Your glory.

Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I place my complete trust in You. Amen.
