Gangtok, 1st December, 2025: A coordination meeting for the upcoming Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026 was held today with the Department of Culture, Maghey Sankranti Mela Committee and the SKM Culture Wing. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Area MLA Shri Madan Cintury in the presence of:

Shri Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister

Shri Basant K. Lama, Secretary, Department of Culture

Shri Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister

Shri Tashi Tshering Bhutia, Vice President (Incharge) & Chairman, Film Board

Shri Yogen Syangden, SDM, Jorethang

Shri Bishal Mukhia, Director, SIRD

Ms. Kussum Pradhan, Assistant Director, SICB

Officials from Urban Development Department, members of the Mela Culture Committee and representatives from various other departments were also present.

🎤💃 A major highlight of the discussion was the introduction of exciting new State-level reality shows:

✨ Golden Voice of Sikkim (Singing)
✨ Golden Feet of Sikkim (Dance)
✨ Community Fashion Show
✨ Battle of Bands

The grand finales of these shows will be hosted during the Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026 at Jorethang — making the festival even more dynamic and engaging!

These initiatives stem from the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), who has always championed meaningful opportunities for the youth. The programmes aim to nurture talent, build confidence and ensure that emerging artists from every corner of Sikkim receive the recognition they truly deserve.

This new creative push will add fresh energy to the historic Maghey Sankranti Mela — strengthening our traditions while encouraging modern artistic expression. With vibrant performances, diverse participation and strong community involvement, the 2026 edition is set to be a memorable celebration of culture and talent.

The Department of Culture, along with its core committee, will soon announce audition dates and participation guidelines for all events. 🎬🎶

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to make Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026 a grand success — a festival that brings people together, empowers young talents and reflects the progressive cultural vision of our Hon’ble Chief Minister.
