Contemporary Indian Art cannot be fully appreciated without taking cognizance of the immense cultural diversity that is reflected in India's traditional art practices.
When Devajyoti Ray 's new style of Pseudorealism is discussed, often it is compared with other isms practised in others parts of the world. However Ray's Pseudorealism borrows more from Indian traditions than western ones - whether they be in the motifs or the narratives.
Ray has himself said this many times.
