y a street corner... always on location, not from photos or memory.”
A year later, Campanario invited a group of sketchers to share their drawings and storytelling in a blog, Urban Sketchers, where readers could “See the World, One Drawing at a Time.” The blog helped the community gain visibility and inspired drawing enthusiasts from all over the world. The Urban Sketchers - Hyderabad group is an effort to build a local Twin-city based community and then join this larger Global community.

Sketching the Historic Rehnuma-e-Deccan Haveli

Step into Hyderabad’s living history with your sketchbook!

Urban Sketchers Hyderabad is delighted to invite artists, architects, designers, photographers, history lovers, and anyone who enjoys drawing on location to an exclusive sketch walk inside the historic Rehnuma-e-Deccan Haveli—the ancestral home of the family behind The Rahnuma-e-Deccan, regarded as Hyderabad’s oldest continuously published Urdu daily newspaper, with roots dating back to 1921.

This is a rare opportunity to sketch within a beautiful Nawabi residence that is normally not open for public sketching. Participants are free to spread across the property and capture its architecture, courtyards, verandahs, heritage details, and timeless ambience at their own pace.

Following the sketch session, our hosts will take us on a guided heritage tour of the haveli and share fascinating stories about the family, the newspaper, and Hyderabad’s rich cultural legacy.

At the end of the session, we will hold a small sketch display where participants can showcase their work. Those who wish may also present their sketches as a gift to the Rehnuma-e-Deccan family as a gesture of appreciation.
