BPG Day 2026 | An Evening of Theatre

When survival is at stake and truth is clouded by fear… who decides what is right?

As part of our 20-year celebrations, BPG is delighted to present the powerful Bengali play Byatikram (ব্যাতিক্রম) by the legendary theatre group Nandikar.

Adapted by Shri Rudraprasad Sengupta from Bertolt Brecht’s The Exception and the Rule and directed by Sohini Sengupta, the play unfolds as a gripping journey across a harsh desert — where power, fear, and class divide collide. What begins as a simple business expedition slowly turns into a tense exploration of human instinct, mistrust, and justice.

Bhasha Dibos at BPG was proof that language can be both profound and thoroughly entertaining.

Between thoughtful conversations on the role of our mother tongue, songs in different languages, and an engaging exchange on the shared threads (and delightful differences) between Bengal and Assam — the evening moved seamlessly from reflection to resonance.

And then came the extempore.
Let’s just say… time limits were more of a suggestion. 😄
What followed was a riot of wit, laughter, and sharp observations — with moments of genuine introspection woven in between.

A few glimpses from an evening where words truly came alive.
