Kashmiri Skit "EHSAAS" Presented Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Unisoo Kupwara

The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a cultural awareness programme under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2026 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Unisoo, Kupwara. On the occasion, artists of the Azad Dramatic Cultural Club, Repora Ganderbal, presented the Kashmiri skit "EHSAAS", written by Master Abdul Samad Mir and directed by Ashaq Hussain Najar.
The skit delivered a powerful social message against drug abuse and highlighted its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society at large. Through an engaging and realistic portrayal of young people falling victim to addiction and their eventual journey towards rehabilitation and recovery, the performance emphasized the importance of awareness, timely intervention, community support, and collective responsibility in eradicating the menace of drugs from society.
The artists effectively conveyed the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, inspiring the audience to recognize the dangers of substance abuse and encouraging youth to adopt healthy, productive, and responsible lifestyles. The thought-provoking presentation was widely appreciated by the audience for its artistic merit and social relevance.
A large gathering of students, teachers, and members of the general public attended the programme and applauded the efforts of the Academy and the participating artists for spreading awareness through the medium of theatre.
Mr. Mohammad Javaid Ahmad Khan, Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Unisoo Kupwara, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he lauded the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organizing such meaningful programmes and appreciated the artists for utilizing theatre as an effective tool for educating society about the harmful consequences of drug addiction. He stressed the need for continued awareness campaigns to safeguard the younger generation from the growing threat of substance abuse.
Several prominent personalities associated with literature, culture, education, and social activities were also present and appreciated the Academy's initiative in promoting social awareness through cultural interventions.
Among the Academy official, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf was present during the programme and interacted with the participants, faculty members, and audience. They appreciated the artists for their dedicated performance and reiterated the Academy's commitment to supporting cultural activities aimed at public welfare and social reform.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming JKAACL's resolve to continue organizing cultural and literary activities that contribute to social awareness, youth empowerment, and the overall well-being of society.
