A glimpse from Nangiarkoothu 'GajendraMoksham' performed by Kalamandalam Prasanthi .

GajendraMoksham:
GajendraMoksham is a famous episode from the devotional text, Bhagavata Puranam.
Gajendra, the mighty elephant king, is caught by a crocodile while enjoying the lake. After a long struggle to escape from the crocodile, he realizes that strength and pride cannot save him. In complete surrender, he prays to Lord Vishnu, who arrives before him to grant liberation (moksha).

In this scene, the actor portrays the inner transformation of Gajendra — from pride and struggle to surrender and devotion.

Performed by Kalamandalam Prasanthi

The performer is accompanied with Mizhavu, Edakka (percussion) and Thalam (cymbals).
