Behind the Canvas✨ | Ep 12

My work investigates the life of rural and urban people, their lifestyle and professions. I am trying to touch the sense of urbanization issues, sound
of the city and village, population and pollution. I am most often lost in the process of layering in Painting, struggling to find a way out and feelingvery much a beginner until the moments of clarity.

All this and more as we talk to Ashish about her journey and artistic practice in episode 12 of Behind the Canvas, coming soon on our YouTube channel!

Constructivism, founded in 1915 by Russian artists Vladimir Tatlin and Alexander Rodchenko, is an abstract form of art meant to represent urban spaces and industrialisation. A key feature of constructivism was its use in propaganda and social commentary, especially in relation to soviet-era socialism and utilitarianism versus aestheticism.
Constructivism is often identified through its emphasis on geometric lines and shapes, mechanical imagery, muted colours, and utilitarian design meant to represent a changing and urbane cityscape.
Notable artists of the constructivism movement include Naum Gabo, Peter Lowe, and El Lissitzky, among others.
