It endeavours to bring people together from all over the world through the medium of Art and promotes Indian Dance and Culture internationally. It imparts the mandatory artistic education required for Indian Classical Dance, Music and Culture. Devayani, Founder and Artistic Director of the Academy has many years of experience and has trained students from all over the world: India, Singapore, U.S., U.K., France and other European Countries, Brazil, Canada different parts of Asia etc. COURSES OFFERED
“General Course” & “Certificate Course” for Bharata Natyam
The minimum age for the general course is 6 and the minimum duration of the course is of 2 to 3 years with a yearly assessment. The course is an ongoing process ,the duration of which can be extended. Certificate Course for the International Certification of Dance Studies given by the CID (International Dance Council, Headquarters, UNESCO, Paris). At the end of each level, a Certificate will be given after 150 hours of dance classes in a year have been completed @ of 3 dance classes per week. For those who want an intensive course, the 150 hours can be completed in 6 months. For each Certificate Course the student will have to appear for an Audition at any point of time in the year and will have the freedom to re-appear. Each level of the Certificate Course follows a specific syllabus and contains yearly examinations for practical and theory both. The student has to register for the examination. It is the tradition of the establishment to have a panel of experts from different fields to evaluate. Selected students are given a chance to perform. The duration of the General Course and of the Certificate Course for Bharata Natyam is of 2 to 5 years. It includes:
Practical training i.e.: footwork, adavus (units of movements) mudras or hand gestures, abhinaya, karanas (sculptural poses). Theoretical knowledge of: Thala system (measure of time) Treatise of Dance Hindu Mythology and Philosophy Beginners dance compositions A wider repertoire for more advanced students. Admissions: Open throughout the year
Teaching in: Individual Classes, Classes of two or three and group classes. Specialities:
Preparation for Bharata Natyam for Arangetram, Dance Contests, shows. Polishing of the style in which a student might have been trained earlier. Creative work with semi-professional and professional dancers even from other dance styles. Bollywood Dance Hatha Yoga Personal Effectiveness Training Classes emphasizing on stretch, Body toning, Thera Band and Aerobics for building up of stamina
