"My Feelings as an Artist: Mokash
a. The profound spiritual depth and the holy bath of the Kumbh Mela are the inspiration for this work, 'Mokasha'. I have always believed that bathing in these sacred waters cleanses not only the body, but liberates the soul from the bonds of worldly delusion, leading to ultimate peace. In this work, I wanted to capture that mystical moment where water and soul become one.
At the center of the painting, I have placed a Sadhu, whose halo represents spiritual awakening and inner purity. By using a Surrealist style, I wanted to convey how intense devotion can elevate a person beyond the pull of worldly gravity, towards ultimate liberation, or Mokasha. The floating human bodies are symbols of those freed souls who, after touching these holy waters, are set free from the cycle of birth and death.
The variation of blue across the canvas unites the endlessness of sky and water, drawing the viewer into a state of calm and meditation. Each small detail, like the trident, water pot, and tilak, recalls the heritage of our ancient culture. This painting is not just a depiction of a festival, but rather an artistic expression of spiritual ascension and dissolution into the divine.
